Unless these are for a Japanese convention exclusive as well. ;)

It’s not that. The issue is that while its ok for you (and others, not the specific ‘you’ here) to complain and complain about the price/availability, it’s not cool for the rest of us (who are either working hard, or have saved up, knowing this would happen), to say “Too bad. Sorry you can’t swing this one, but I worked hard to get these. Now stop spoiling everyone’s good time and stop acting like anyone owes you a gotdamn thing.”

I really do sympathize with those that live over seas, aren’t in a position to buy the toys due to finances, or simply aren’t in a place in their lives where it’s even an option.

But those folks that only bitch because they aren’t getting what they want.

No sympathy.

The whole stupid issue has been danced around for like 2 months now.

If they do, they'll still be overpriced. Hopefully, though, Hasbro will realize what kind of business they did with the Classics line and do a mass market release - which will probably be about the same time that wild horses fly out of your arse...

Well I did wake with a touch of indigestion, so just maybe if we're lucky, that horse will be here sooner than we think :P

Geekee1 wrote:OK we've been through this before. Yes these would have been great as a general release. We all wish that. But in no way is it a ripoff. You are paying the $280 for figures that are being made in extremely small numbers. They are also highly sought after. I understand that they are repaints, but they are still different because of that.

Saying that the price is a rip-off is like saying that paying several hundred dollars for a MISB G1 Optimus Prime for several hundred dollars is a rip-off because you can get the same figure loose for under one hundred.

Unfortunate for those that can't get it, yes. Rip-off, no.

I'm afraid to mess with you, you seem to have some pretty devote followers here. But if you read what I said, it's not the price. I had the money to buy it, I didn't out of principle. Now I don't have any problem with botcon exclusives, they've been doing it for years. But they used to make their own characters or made characters that used a name but didn't resemble the originals. Things have changed here, last year they did the beast wars set. I grew up with beast wars way more than g1, but I didn't have a problem. I knew Hasbro had absolutely no chance of putting all those figures at retail, and it was just cool to see what they'd look like. I didn't shell out for them but I didn't mind that they made them exclusives either. Heck even this years rodimus prime is a cool exclusive. People will probably have a better chance of finding it since it'll be in one place and they know where it is, unlike the dodgy alternators releases at retail. Plus it's not a perfect rodimus prime like the awesome titanium one we got, but it still looks amazing. The price isn't that bad either.

This set however is something that should have been done at retail (minus bugbite and dreadwing). And don't give me bs that hasbro wouldn't have done them, they're reissuing ENERGON molds in a MOVIE line. I understand after a while you'd probably get really sick of people bitching, but seeing these images really set me off and I was pissed. And usually I don't visit this site often.

All I can say is, if you want to know how I feel, buy the set at Botcon prices. Then (and hopefully this will happen just so the shoe will be on the other foot) Hasbro releases these figures at retail for $10 each. You'd feel cheated, and angry, like you wasted all this money for nothing. That's exactly how we feel right now.

AND LIKE I SAID BEFORE, I could've bought the set. I was on the verge of doing it until I realised what was happening and passed. I wish everyone would have passed just to send a message, but I know there are people way more hardcore than me that just wouldn't be able to hold themselves from completing the set. The set selling out only proves that Hasbro started a line, and the only way to complete that line (of seekers anyway) was to get the exclusives. That hasn't been the case at ANY other botcon regarding exclusives.

Oh and btw, I never said it wasn't cool for people to like the set. I pretty much ripped on Hasbro for making it exclusive, and called that guy who pretty much attacked me to shove off because he obviously has issues. But that guy who lives in Oklahoma made some pretty good points, and I called him on it. I'm willing to listen, but so far no one has swayed my opinion that this was pretty much douchebaggery at its finest.

Tacogrande,

I can respect all that. I can respect voting with your money. That's all cool.

Can we at least avoid slamming Hasbro/FP and arguing about where, when, and if, these Classics could have seen store shelves until after BotCon?

You know, I know, everyone knows, that someone is going to pose the question. If they tell us that their bean counters would never have supported these guys on the shelves, we have to take that for what it is.

I mean, sure I'd have like to get these toys for $10 a piece, but I never thought I'd see them. So, it just may be the case that we're winning for loosing.

CP, honestly, do you work for HASBRO or any TF Related toy distributor? And if so, whats up with the discounts man?

These figures are nice. If I had the money to blow, I'd get em.

But my TF collection is severely lacking due to funds. Its nice to look at them though. lol

I used to, shockaract and apelinq. That was the Fort Wayne convention, and I was just happy to go and see old g1 episodes (no dvds at the time) as well as meet people and stuff.

What were those figures anyway, just a repaint of a couple cool toys, but their own characters. I sold them on eBay because I lost interest, and I actually lost money on them even though I never opened them. I also went to the botcon that was in Chicago about 2-3 years ago. I didn't buy any exclusives that time, I just hung out with some friends that went.

I know this is probably annoying to the regulars but you gotta realize I don't visit here very often. So this was my time to bitch. Sorry if you've heard it before but I'm still going to be pissed at Hasbro. I got my say in and I'm done. If you guys want a bitch-free thread just make one or put a disclaimer saying don't come in this thread if you're po'd.

I'm only here more often now because I love the movie toys but a couple of them are defective so I come here to see what to do about it. I got a little carried away so I'll stop posting.

Ooooh these botcon bashing threads are more addictive than tfs themselves!

Of course Hasbro isn't deliberately screwing anyone, they simply made a poor decision, and as adult collectors take up a bigger slice of the market they will have to be more careful in future. The fact is kids get over things and move on much quicker than grownups. I can imagine plenty of adult collectors dropping out of the game in disgust if this kind of thing becomes a Hasbro habit. Many would certainly think twice about starting a collection of any future collector/filler line.

And to those who say these seekers could not have been inserted into a future cartoon line because they would not fit whatever the new direction of tfs will be, I ask you this: Did the deluxe armada prime mould really fit in the cybertron line? What about the bw prime and megs moulds that also appeared in cybertron?

Wait a minute, we're still complaining abouit this? This Botcon thing is beyond done. I thought everyone had made their gripes and points already. If you didn't buy the set (Iacon non-attendee package) just to make a statement and still upset you don't have them or won't be able to get them then I'd say tough. You lost your chance.

I was not happy about it either and feel like I'm getting ripped off too. BUT, I knew once the decision was made that was it. And when it came to getting the remaining classic seekers it was either put up or shut up. Guess what? I put up. I put out my $329 smackers since I'm not in the club and am looking forward to getting the set. Again, I understand everyone's feeling about it. But aren't we wasting time and energy still complaining about it at this point? :-?
