Once again, the Hasbro version of a toy would have been better if it hadn't been so mottled looking with a second, unneeded colour thrown in....plus the chrome on the target master looks boss.

I'll be buying both versions of Cyclonus. He's one of my all time favorite Transformers, so both are must buys. The Hasbro one is a definite homage of the original toy and his IDW look. Whereas TakTom's Henkei version is a perfect homage to his cartoon model. We got really lucky because he can do both is cartoon and toy wing configurations! I'm going to go out on a limb and say that before he comes out Cyclonus will be the best toy in the Universe/Henkei line(s).

Not sure if I'll get Countdown, I loved the Micromaster base as a kid and the color scheme looks alright. I'll most likely get him if I have extra money.

I'd have to say I'm going to go ahead and buy both of them. I like that Hasbro's version is more of a darker purple, but the only thing I don't like is his beige thigh and bicep and then with Takara's Version I like that it's more G1 accurate.

I like that too! I saw those images of Henkei Cyclonus and I was thinking, "WTH! Way to ruin the fact that I just got home from buying U2.0 Cyclonus, dudes!"


But then I read this post I've quoted, and I got thinking, "Yeah, there ya go. That's it right there."

This is the only time Takara/Tomy's ever truly screwed it up for me though. More generally, my "Pass on Henkei" attitude has mostly been because I don't feel like I really need Japanese versions of figures I can get cheaper just by waiting for the US editions to show up on local pegs. Except for Henkei Megatron (which I bought just just for the G1-based deco, which generally should have been done with Classics Meg to begin with), I'm just as happy with Classics/U2.0 releases as I'd be with Henkei versions. This time, however... YUCK! Good thing nobody's holding a gun to my head saying Buy it! The only good thing about this release for me is that I read somewhere Takara didn't release a Targetmaster Cyclonus back in G1. If that's the case, the only bad thing here for them is that I feel Henkei Cyclonus got a 25th Anniversary Prime treatment.

Sorry about the rant...just couldn't let this one go without venting.

Well after seeing that pic of the Henkei version of Cyclonus, he looks awful! not menacing at all! Definitley getting the Hasbro version for sure!! and as for Countdown, that walking cannon is mine!!!

I find myself turning into a nerd more and more each day. I am hoping when/if we get a Scourge that the Henkei version is this different from the Hasbro version so I can have an army of Sweeps who look different from Scourge.

Well, now that I've seen those pix, I think I'm going one and one.
Both are good, and the chrome doesn't bother me at all this time.
Helps out a little with my decision for Hound too,
because how that I'm probably getting one Hasbro version,
I'm going to go ahead and get 2 Henkei Hounds.

Countdown is a pass for me.

Here's to hoping that they do make a Scourge later on--
I'd get at least 3-4 of them!!

Put me in the Universe Cyclonus camp.

Maybe I just don't remember the show as well as I thought, but I'd swear the darker version of his color scheme was used pretty often.

At the very least I don't remember him being Easter bunny purple.

I'm quite happy to stick with my US release, though I do find the idea of the Henkei versions as the minions to be a good one. If they ever hit a sale at BBTS or whatever I may pick up a few, but not for more $$$ than the regular release.

Universe Cyclonus for me for sure. I much prefer the dark purple and red applications. More purple and less gray would have been good, as would not having mismatching thighs, but what can you do? Some silver paint for his face and he'll look sweet.

Lavender Cyclonus with Nightstick in his silver space pants just doesn't do it for me.

Nice we got the options though

Hmm, Cyclonus is a lot more pale than I was expecting... I may need to cancel my preorder as it looks a lot less like the G1 figure than I was hoping.

The Henkei Cyclonus has the wrong shade of purple, it's way too light.

Pastel colours? It's Miami Vice Cyclonus!

Do you think Henkei Cyclonus is going to be one those figures that lots of folks pass on in the beginning, but then regret later because the price goes up and he can't be found?

Dunno...but this is the exact same thing as what happened with Superlink Galvatron G. Exactly the same, now look at his prices.

I agree! With Galvatron and Cyclonus out, a new Scourge aughta be done too! I can see the complaint about Galvatron's right arm from the Henkei Lucky Draw thread (and agree: it really should have been done better), but a new Scourge would complete the trio...

More cartoon-accurate than the U2.0 deco is, but it's still too light IMO.

Yeah. It does, kinda. This mold's about 15 tons better than the G1 version though, IMO. Kinda goes back the cartoon-accuracy thing; while G1's deco is closest to 'toon-accurate, U2.0's robot mode is more 'toon-accurate than G1.

I already have Habro's version but I may get the Henkei version too if I can stand lavender Maybe he can be Cyclonus's "Armada"
