I just bought the robot masters knockoff two pack of star saber and victory leo from Family Dollar. I figured for $3 who cares. Overall not too bad. My only gripes are that on star saber his elbows are not jointed and the other joint in his leg is fused but looks to be fixable. This unfortunately prevents transformation into vehicle mode. It is nice however to have these two figures without having to pay the outrageous prices the authentic ones go for.

Found this cheapo Jetfire knockoff in a dollar store. He's pretty flimsy, has a weird color scheme and comes with 2 left hands. Don't really like KOs but never got to own the original so thought I'd pick this up anyway.

My general feeling on knock offs is that they can be ok. Basically if it isn't trying to hard to be sold as authentic I can deal with it. It can be nice to get a figure that was never released in the U.S. Also they can be great for customizing. I would probably feel guilty about cutting up some original figures for customizing. When the knock off is packaged and presented as a legitimate toy from the manufacturer that is when I have a real problem. That is clearly someone trying to rip people off. Just my 2 cents.

I've got the red version of that and the optimal optimus and RID megs from the same line. They've been at B/L for probably 8 years. When I got back into TFs I ran down there to see if they were still available. I just found that Optimal Optimus at a different store a few weeks ago, after passing him up several times a long time ago. I also found some of those combiners that B/L used to have so many of. Got another orange devs and defensor so I can give my kid one of each.

Just saw this newer thread so thought I'd post my question here too. I don't have time to read through 86 pages, so forgive me if this question has been asked already. I've been collecting the TRU exclusive reissues of the G1 transformers. To me they are just as good as the original, minus the whole weapon issue. I've also purchased a few of the Takara reissues (in the white box) because TRU hasn't made certain figures. My question is, I've been seeing a lot of "Encore" reissues that come in boxes with Japanese writing. They have quite a few that I want that haven't been released by either of the previous sets. However, I've noticed the prices seem rather reasonable and I'm scared these might cheap knockoffs that will fall apart as soon as I take them out of the box. Does anyone know if these are quality worth purchasing? Thanks!

Well that depends on exactly which ones you are referring to.

Currently there is the Takara Encore Line out. Those are official re-issues of the original figures. They are very good quality, and are reasonably priced for the most part.

But without knowing exactly which figures you mean its hard to tell.

There are quite a few knockoffs out there doing the rounds. so if you post links to the figures you mean we can tell you which ones are the real deal and which are not.

Also the TRU line is fairly old and incomplete. Only recently have they decided to release a couple more figures: Perceptor, and the Insecticons.

The white boxed ones are the book-Style re-issues, they are quite sought after, a bit old, and therefor quite expensive.
