The Hub website has put up its Launch Line up page and some rather interesting images appear: Ratchet (this time a full body shot) and a sinister purple car which may well be a Decepticon drone.

That's a Decepticon alright. The front grill looks like the top portion of the Decepticon insignia.

I only hope that when they are designing these characters for the cartoon, they are putting some real thought into how the toys will actually transform. Otherwise we will end up with more toys (like the movie toys) that have generally crappy or over-complex transformations or else do not look screen accurate at all.

Wow! THat looks fantastic! It's weird...his color is in that area where you can't really tell if he's dark orange or light red. SOrt of reminds of the color of the TRU exclusive Animated Ironhide,,,he also falls in that area. That 'Con car looks cool too. Why do I feel like, if that turns out to not be a drone, it might be Barricade. Anyone else get that vibe or am I just imagining things?

I remember that. Though it is disappointing, it really isn't that surprising. The toy line is going in, what, three different directions right now? I think it gets to the point where you have to focus more rather than diversify. I'm sure they've done tons of studies and research on branching toy lines and probably have found a point of diminishing returns. Plus, I couldn't imagine how they'd make a toy of that...it all fits together so seemlessly that a toy would probably be a major letdown.

while they might not be planning a line of toys around prime, I'd bet there's probably a good chance we may see some characters in the generations line. that's where they stuck the WFC toys.

While I think some of the designs might be cool in toy form, I would rather them make more WFC figures first.

As mentioned, the Generations line leaves plenty of room for TFP toys to appear. Real question is whether or not we'll see Fugative Wasp / Mercenary Swindle appear (if they do at all mind you) under the TFA line or Generations line. If the Generations line stays constant, anything can fall into it from G1 to Beast-era and beyond, if they are smart enough to take advanyage of it. :ic$:

I was unaware that they were not making a TF Prime toyline. I blame the movie line.

but still this ratchet is the best design for him EVER. If not in TF Prime line, make a generations version of this.

Ratchet's design is definitely my favorite out of all the TF: Prime designs I've seen. And the drone's alt-mode looks very sleek. I would prefer that they avoided drones altogether, though, and just develop a core group for us to follow in the show. I'd rather see Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Shockwave, and maybe the Constructicons than just Megs, Soundwave, Starscream and an endless supply of drones.

I can also see why a devoted toyline might not be the best idea for them. With TF3 releasing next year, they'll want to build that up heavily, and likely devote their resources to the Movie Line. Three concurrent lines would likely result in a lot of shelf warming and might put off some buyers.

Tuned down perhaps. Not as much pointy stuff on him as Gundams. I always thought the Gundams would be cooler if they actually did transform...but there's probably a copyright infringement in their somewhere.
