New Working KO Version of Real Gear Meantime
Seibertron's own Scaleface has come across an interesting <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/TRANSFORMERS-WRIST-WATCH-TRANSFORMERS-COOL_W0QQitemZ180186283312QQihZ008QQcategoryZ753QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem"" target="_blank">new listing</a> for a functioning Wristwatch version of the Real Gear figure Meantime.

<img src="/images/news/gfx/1196738562_54-079-A6-TR-C.jpg">
While certainly not the first version of a real working Meantime, this is the first version that seems to have been put into mass production. It would also appear to be the first Knock Off of Meantime as well.
To check out the listing, please <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/TRANSFORMERS-WRIST-WATCH-TRANSFORMERS-COOL_W0QQitemZ180186283312QQihZ008QQcategoryZ753QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem"" target="_blank">click here</a>.

just to add to that, it's great they have a working watch, but yellow and purple?
Even though Hasbro cheaped out on a working digital, at least he still looked cool.

Hasbro so could have done this.

Care to expand on that thought? This is a KO release. Or are you saying, that Hasbro should have done this instead of a KO company making it?

OH NO KO'S, not even this can lure me in!
I saw Jin's custom walk through, and I want the quality silver KronoForm Watch/Calculator guy that my sister lost on me back in the day(yes G1 had real RealGears).
So I say NO to your temptations tempting as they may be!
Plus I don't like wearing watches, so if that helps me stay vigilant, so be it!
Still, I sead it from the start, this should have been done in the first place.

Er 1 question, What is 'KO' mean? I've heard this many time in toy forum, did it mean bootleg?

They suck when the KO version does something that the original couldn't, but by all rights should've. They sucked by cheaping out on the official toy. Even in the eighties they were able to do working watch transformers with the Kronoforms.

You know, I would by a working Meantime watch. That is, ofcourse, that it could fit one my wrist unlike the official one. It would be nice if Hasbro made a working Meantime watch available. Perhaps in the new Premium series? Adjust the wristband of the toy so it can fit on any adults wrist. Make it look a little more realistic. And ofcourse, add a real working clock mechanism. Maybe even make out of metal/diecast. If costs $100, so be it. I'd buy 1. It would make a great BotCon attendee exclusive.

I like the idea but if the real one wont stay on my wrist i doubt this one will. It doesnt look like they extended the wristband part.

working or not,
fits or not,
the most important thing to me for a TF watch alt mode
is it needs to look bling-bling.

none of those colors look good

It's a nice gimmick, but it's not really worth it ... I'd never actually wear a watch like that.
And what's with the colors? Honestly, it's like they looked at G2 for inspiration on these...

definitely feeling some G2 there, although the navy-colored one is pretty sweet
I probably would've worn these in Elementary School. I wore a watch-replica of the communicator from Power Rangers, that's how much of a dork I was. Actually I don't know if that would've been considered dorky, because ALL my friends were into G2 at the time. I was the only one with Bruticus, too.

I have to admit tho ... Even tho I've never worn one and would never wear a novelty watch, if HasTak made a working Meantime it'd be bumped to a "must have" purely for the novelty value.
If they had good colors anyhow.
I don't think it's fair to say they dropped the ball (for those who do) on not making him a working watch ... doing so would raise the price of the toy and it's not like he's a memorable character or anything, so it'd be a risk.

I like it. Hasbro should have done this and sold him as a slightly marked up realgear - maybe the realgear decepticon leader or such like. I like KO's that use originality or slight mold changes, I just hate it when people make KO's in the right colours and try to pass them off as the real thing. Btw - Meantime fits on my wrist an I'm 29 so some of you must have damn big wrists! ( or maybe I got slim ones :-p )

I hate the Real Gear, therefore I hate this. Yuck
