I was intimidated the first time I opened my first SD kit and those are simple. It took me two sessions, my second one just went together in no time at all. I had a pretty good idea what I was getting in went I bought the kit (found out after doing some research it was one of the more complicated sets (Real Grade)), but when I opened the box, damn all them pieces :shock:

Even though the instructions are in Japanese they are very clear and easy to follow. The build is broken down in steps; limbs, waist, torso, head then stickers. I'm breaking the sequence a bit and start with just the frame. Next I'll do the head and all the hands. The build is modular and it really doesn't matter where you start.

What takes the longest for me is cleaning the sprue marks. I spend a lot of time shaving the nubs off. Hopefully I'm not the the only person to do this; when I buy a new TF, I grab all the packages and compare them to see which one has the best paint job or build. With these Gundam kits, the figure will look as good as the effort I put into it. Less transforming (and some do) I'll have a deluxe sized figure that blows the MP line out of the water as far as sculpt and articulation are concerned.

Anyways, I really enjoy the build process. I think after this one, I will move up to a 1/100 and/or the master grade.

That Leo Prime over there would be worth calling in a favor, but I have Thundertron in the PoL, so I'm good. I will say the Breakdown mold is worth getting though (I'll hold out for the real deal

Kyoto. Hands down. Then head to Osaka for some of the shops over there, such as Hero Gangu or The Jungle (the latter is pretty bad in person though, for TFs - good online).

I'm headed to Hiroshima this weekend, as a treat for all the work I'm getting done while I wait for my partner to come back home. I'm a stay at home Va'al, really.

Starscream is a really cool figure and highly recommended.

I want to pull the RID insignia off and replace with normal ones. I also want to slap some on his wings, but which way? Should I prioritize alt mode or bot mode orientation?

I'd say go with the stickers so they're about upright in robot mode. It would look cooler.

If it weren't for the fact that I'm still holding out hope of finding another Alpha Bravo to slap the 2 Shattered Glass Decepticon stickers I have on (or just a SG con in general), I would put them on Starscream.
