Yes but super easy to figure out which is which. See the haul thread for pics, but there is a little window on the back of the bag towards the bottom. With a little wiggling, squeezing and peeping it's super easy to figure the ones you want. ;)^

So AoE Drift came to work with me today.

A fairly posable bot, with some abnormal (to me at least) joints.

Attempted some fine Sharpie customization to his face to break up all the gold. Doesn't stick well. I need to break down and get some paint pens then graduate to an airbrush.

I've been thinking of eBaying Generations Drift, Cary -- what do you think of his Bayverse incarnation? The red version from TLK looks kinda cool....!

Gen Drift is a really cool mold. Big, heavy, dense but a little cluttered in bot mode. Super fun to pose, does and excellent job of representing IDW drift and the transformation is satisfying if not a little complex (at least compared to the current line).

AoE Drift was more fun than I remembered but not a bot that I'd consider necessary. I got him on extreme mark down at a salvage store. I'm torn on blue vs red. From the pics I can't tell if the mold is 100% the same with some slight retooling or not. It seems either all the stock images has him mistranformed or they left out a step on the roof/backpack.

If you like the movies, or the look of movie Drift I'd say jump as it is a fun bit to pose and transform. I just think that most of the movie figures are butt ugly. I've only got a handful and most were picked up at discounts of at least 50% off. Their faces are so monstrous and there is so much creepy robot muscle and sinew. I feel the movie bots are what transformers would look like if made by Todd McFarlane. I used to collect his figures so on that creepy level I've started to appreciate their designs more.

The reason you find the backpack odd in the new red version is because the entire toy has been turned upside down. You can see from the detail on his legs which is now the front of the car and not the back of the car. The robot itself is essentially the same with some changes in the chest, head but every car detail has changed. Since not only is it a new licensed car now but the front is now the back and the back is now the front.

So the robot mode is slightly retooled but the car mode is a completely new mold.

That translates to me as: Will buy it... on discount.

If Hasbro can save money, why cant I ?

I want to wait though to see if these toys will be released in nicer decos. It always happens for movie lines and I always hate that I jump the gun.

The raincheck I got doesnt have an expiration

But to be fair, the movie line is only lasting a few months so its not like there is much abuse to be had (unlike, say Titans Return).

He is definitly big, clunky, and cluttered. But somehow, none of that detracts from his awesomeness. He's kinda bizarre in that way :lol:

I avoided most of the general retail releases of the AOE toys, and boy am I glad I did because the Autobot team was put out in that vastly superior Platinum set. I ended up liking Drift more than I thought I would, but I get I'd have been a bit down on him when comparing his deco to the Platty release.
