Indeed. I've decided on the round hilt; it looks the best, Meg's holds it very tightly and it give me more options.

I think this will be my default shelf pose.

There's also a really bitchin' reflection in the laptop that doesn't translate well in a picture.

Updated my Neo G1 Decepticon Shelf.

Image

Going farther down the ghetto cheap 3P "MP" bots rabbit hole. Picked up Ace Design's Tumbler aka not Cliffjumper. Looks the part enough, has 3 derp heads, but the one I picked is good enough. Comes with a pistol and the obligatory bazooka. Transformation is fiddly as is everything, especially the die-cast feet/hood. At least it's stable standing up. Ultimately it was cheap and looks good on my MP shelf. Needs faction stickers. Oh, it comes with an acrylic case and stand (that can't be used without a partial untransformation), the case is funny cause there's nothing premium here, but then again maybe it's to keep people from touching it. Also has a bonus "Gobot" mode.

Speaking of rabbit holes, how about a KO of 52Toys BeastBOX line. So far they only have 3 shades of the dino, but I'm really impressed here. In some ways the KO is better than the original. The joints are nice and tight (some too tight), but some seams have a small gap and there are no paint apps. Still I'm really liking "Sakura" which I've renamed Pinky Lee and trying to decide if and where to put Autobot symbols. Maybe rename it to Arcee for giggles. I like it so much I ordered the blue one named "Specter" as well.

Image

And finally one last rabbit hole I'm standing on the edge of. TF MP coins. I'm finding it very hard to not track them down and order them all! I have several tabs open for a week now and trying really hard to say no. The only thing holding me back is that they are not as heavy as I'd like. Also some have a weird "protective" coating that keeps them from feeling nice and metaly. Pretty sure they are some type of die-cast alloy. Not sure how to explain this, but they feel like if I was to cut them in half, they'd have air pockets like a sponge. Why can't they just be made of steel?

Very nice update Cary!

I do remember that weird film on the coins, was it fully removable or no? If they are in fact diecast, that film may be there so they don't tarnish like MP-5's feet did!! I'm with you though, it's a rabbit hole I'd love to go down. I'm all about the accessories, and I know there was a coin album at some point but I'm not sure how far it went. It would be nice to set one up like Cobotron's collector card albums :D

Thanks, but nothing you haven't already seen. I just wanted to share with the class.

It seems like a protective film to prevent oxidation and to keep the "aging/antique" finish from rubbing off.

I'd rather some type of shelf/cabinet/stand display so I can pick them up and enjoy them. I know some weirdos would keep them in their sleeve forever behind the plastic shell and never be able to touch the metal.

Anyway, as far as the collectible coin market go, storage/display options almost seem infinite. I'd like something simple like a tray stand/shelf to line them all up in and keep them handy to touch whenever I feel the urge.

That makes sense. Maybe I'm thinking of the actual plastic that was keeping it attached to the cardback (the MP12 coin is the only one I had, and now D-Max has it).

Ooooooh a Challenge Coin display would work nicely!!

Feels like a sprayed on clear coat. I'm sure a little high octane rubbing alcohol or lacquer thinner would take it right off along with everything else.

They do feel "kinda cheap" compared to real money. I carry an Eisenhower dollar coin from my birth year on my person at most times. It's good and dense and heavy for it's size. I also own a few premium old Mardi Gras doubloons and they make the MP coins seem like toys. I think they're made of either brass or bronze, you know the good stuff!

And yes to the challenge coin options, good call.

Ike is made of what, zinc with trace amounts of copper and nickel? Now I'm interested in the blend!! You should ask your Autobot metallurgist friend who goes on the road with you.
