Doesn't really make a difference to me. I can only find Takara versions at the hobby stores here, and TRU isn't worth the trip to find stuff there as they almost never bring in any new TF after the movie craze.

Takara makes nearly all of Hasbro's toy molds.

This is my point. Hasbro and Takara are on equal footing in terms of toy distribution, unlike a relationship between iGear and Hasbro. Plus, Tak's got rights to Transformers while third parties don't. Anyway, it was an inevitable outcome for Assbro, this whole Breakdown and Unicron fiasco.

Got my AM-12 Breakdown from UPS yesterday, and I have to say I have no regrets paying $60.00 for him. This is a really nice mould, and the colors are sweet. For whatever reason, every Takara figure I have gotten, is just noticeably higher quality compared to Hasbro.

I admit though that I would have preferred paint over stickers, but I did a nice job on my stickers, and put an acrylic clear coat on them to preserve them so they don't start peeling.

As far as Unicron, I already figured this was one Hasbro was not going to give us, and had mine preordered a month ago.

Just a suggestion too to those who want Nemesis Prime, I am sure this is another one Hasbro will blow off, so you might want to preorder your Takara one now.

Sucks that he's not getting released :/ He was one of the figures I was really looking forward too. Oh well. Can't afford to buy the Takara version right now due to another expense being on the table. Probably means I won't get him at all, but who knows.

Hasbro pushes me another step away from them. If they quit doing MP toys, I'm done with them all together. They make everything smaller, while uping the price, tell us, the adult collectors, that we are a small % of their profit, but won't allow the the 3rd party guys to fill in the gap (which shouldn't matter if we are such a small %), and now this.

I'm sorry if I offend you hard core Hasbro fans who really stand behind them even through this bullshite, but this really is becoming very stupid, in my opinion. I can't help but wonder if they are doing this sort of stuff to get rid of the adult collectors.

Did you just find out their re-issuing the FE's? I'd rather have Breakdown come out since most of us imported or Ebayed them anyway. lol Knew I should've got two.

Hasbro must think collectors are just a big pile of money with eyes. That we can just buy whatever we want regardless of price. I'm not spending $70 on a figure that I should be able to get for $20-$25. I'm getting sick of their constant incompetence, something really needs to be done about this before they completely kill Transformers.

I guess i'll be ordering the Silas version then. The current price of Breakdown's not worth it to me, plus I kinda dig the eye patch and chest on the Silas one.

Hopefully hasbro still does release regular breakdown towards the end or Prime or soemthing... we still have season 3 with the Dinobots...

I heard that too, but that's not the one. I was told Hasbro plans on releasing the Asia exclusives here too. I want Hotspot, Wheelie, and G2 Megatron, so............ :BOOM:

Honestly, I wouldn't mind getting the Silas version as well as the original one. Breakdown is just so versatile, I can actually place him in my Classics collection, and he wouldn't look out of place.

I think that we are all going to have to get used to the fact that in the current financial climate, Hasbro are going to be a lot less willing to release anything that affects the bottom line.

We might have lost Breakdown, but a full release of the FE's and the Generations GDO set tell me they still know they have a collector base out there that they want to keep happy...

The strange thing is, he's actually got a clear dark-tinted stomach area instead of painted silver. IMO, he might have started out as a Hasbro toy, and due to reasons unknown, was handed over to Takara as a Japan exclusive.

Just a theory.

Never under-estimated children.

You have thousands of adult Transformer fans still buying toys who were kids when it all started. Some of those are buying third party toys that are better versions or the only versions of characters they wanted as kids. Breakdown was in the show and will be again in another form more or less so it's not like they don't know about him or won't see him. It's yet another drop of the ball in this line.

My point is they will know. If we have thousands of former child fans buying characters they wanted as children, be it official or "third party" that they did or didn't have toys for then, why wouldn't today's child fans know about Breakdown? He's a prominent character on the show and will be returning, you really think they won't want a toy? :lol:

I'm betting neither of you have kids or you'd never have posted it to begin with. They do want one if they watch the show and are fans. I saw my nephews fighting over who got the McDonald's Breakdown toy but I guess it was because they didn't know about him. :HEADHURTS:

Kids undoubtedly know about the character Breakdown and presumably would expect him to have a toy like everyone else (he does have a Legion, at least), but it's unlikely that they know the whole deal with the Voyager toy.

Surely we've all had a character we liked from some cartoon that seemingly never ended up getting a toy and just assume one was never made, as opposed to being made by one company in a totally different country that never got carried over by their partner-company in our own country.
