On Pre-Ordering BB09 and Others

Postby Bonecrusher27 » Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:02 pm

I'm writing this post to complain about scalpers and how I can't get any BB09s. These guys suck. Why the hell...

Ok I'm kidding on that one. My question relates to the recent influx into -and as noted elsewhere, equally sudden efflux out of - Walmart.com.

1. I've pre-ordered Dropkick and BB09 (Hasbro version) from BBTS, as well as the exclusive Evolution of a Hero 2-figure set from Target.com. However I keep getting the date pushed back.

Walmart just had some in stock. Doesn't that mean that Hasbro supplies are coming in? So why do arrival dates keep getting pushed back? Is there some sort of queue?

2. Why is Hasbrotoyshop.com, which belongs to parent company Hasbro, which produces transformers, only have new figures like BB09, Longarm, Dropkick etc still "Coming Soon"? Shouldn't they be in fact the first to carry these figures, since that's where they originate...Hasbro?

3. Finally, if anyone knows in advance when shipments are coming in, how many will be produced, and hence when their clients will be expected to get theirs, it'd be Hasbro, right? Why is it Hasbro cannot tell customers like BBTS when they are expected to get so many of a figure they've ordered? I see that pre-orders and back-orders by BBTS can be "sold out" so I assume that Hasbro must tell BBTS and other stores what limit they in turn can pre-order, right? Or doesn't it work that way?

Sure would appreciate hearing from anyone in the business so I can understand the behind-the-scenes workings a little better.

I'm guessing that hasbrotoyshop.com is the last to get stock because Hasbro doesn't want to piss off their large customers like Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, and the rest. If hasbrotoyshop.com got first dibs on stock, that would put them in direct competition with the stores. Hasbro needs those stores more than those stores need Hasbro. I'm basing this guess off of the experiences of my old college roommate who owns his own body jewelry manufacturing business. Rule #1 -- don't piss off the retailers.
