Don't let the negative feedback on Beastwars Big Convoy turn you off. It's also one of the best molds of him there is and (IMHO trumps Monkee Prime x 10). Though he is quite a pain to transform back to Wooly Mammoth mode.
Galaxy Force Convoy is also IMHO one of the best looking Convoys to date. What do you get?
1. mouth guard retractable feature
2. very detailed mech surface (unlike the Animated flat as a baby's bottom surface)
3. a trailer (sort off anyway but IMHO a Convoy with no trailer is "like well flat" (to quote G1 Skywarp or Thundercracker (One of them said it anyway about earth waaaaaaaaay back in the pilot MTMTE)
4. upgrades with Sonic Bomber
5. removable matrix like Big Convoy (wished the mass release had chrome though)

does anyone have a range on some of the optimus price range of what would be a good deal to purchase them at? or personally what others have paid for them?
Not me. My MP-01 is never going on the auction block! I stayed with a crazy exgirlfriend for an extra month because she preordered it for me for Christmas. No matter how much anyone else spends on it I paid far more, trust me!

He's more like a homage to Star Convoy and Powermaster than RiD. Since I already had all three on the list, I gave the spot to one more deserving. Heck, I left off the eHobby Orion Pax (one of my personal favorites) just to make the list only ten long!

He never said anything about Primals or the Beast Series'. Most of us at his point (at least mentally) seperate Optimus Prime from Optimus Primal, Lioconvoy and Big Convoy as practically unrelated characters. Same way with Nemesis Prime and Ultra Magnus. Including Beast Series' changes everything!

@ zodconvoy, let's not get into the intricacies of which series the mold comes from or what or whom the character is. I only gave my opinion on what butt kicking Optimus molds there is. For all is said and done, Big Convoy is still the big kahuna, leader of the band archetype Optimus Prime mold ............only in beast form. No harm in giving a suggestion no?
I can also add Alternity Convoy, another great "car not monkee or truck" version of Convoy from an Alternate (no pun intended) reality.
Even the THS-02, or Primus, why did Takara make you so small..........? Now another Optimus Prime/Convoy you cannot do without.

I really like Cybertron Optimus Prime/Galaxy Force Convoy! I have the red/blue Cybertron OP and the red/black Cybertron "Galaxy Force" OP. I think the latter looks pretty good with Cybertron Wing Saber since the red/black colour schemes match. I only wish there was some highlighting in the black parts because the nice detailing tends to get lost in the pure black colour.
I would also add Alternity Convoy in this "Optimus" discussion. I love the figure.
I wish that I was collecting when the Vibrant Red version was available through online stores.

I didn't mean to sound harsh. I like nearly all the Optimus/Convoy figures. Big Convoy is my second favorite Beast Series toy after the 10th Anniversery Deluxe Optimus Primal. I just don't include Beast stuff when people ask about Optimus Primes unless the person asking specifically includes them.

They're both great figures and like you said, they have their own pros and cons.
The Alternators/Binaltech Optimus Prime/Convoy looks great in alt mode in my opinion. The pickup truck suits the character and its history of "working man's vehicle" alt modes. The bot mode, unfortunately, seems to be less than impressive for a lot of people but I'll wait for mine to arrive before I can form an opinion. Visually, it looks a bit blocky/bricky/clumsy but I like that aesthetic.
I think that Alternity Convoy looks really cool in both modes. The alt mode is certainly a change from the usual trucks we see him as but I don't mind it because it just looks cool. It's also not a super slim and sleek sports car, it's a bit beefy, so that's something else I like about it.
The bot mode is great, especially if you enjoy transformations that aren't super simple. Alternity Convoy's transformation isn't difficult, it just has quite a few steps but everything is so well designed in the process. The lower leg transformation is awesome and I'm a fan of how it uses parts to create a substantial limb. I noticed a similar process for the lower leg transformations for Universe Onslaught and Aveo Swerve.
I can see how the size of the Alternity figures can be a negative point for some people, especially if they expect something larger for the price of Alternity figures. It's about the size of a Deluxe figure but it's hefty due to the die cast metal in its construction. Also, the level of engineering and detail in the figure makes it seem more substantial than it looks. Once I picked it up, felt the weight, and got a look at the details, the scale of the figure doesn't matter as much for me.
However, I do prefer my Transformers to be in the Deluxe to Voyager size class range so the Alternity figures are pretty much perfect for my taste. Larger figures are fine but I just don't have the space to keep a legion of Leader class figures. As cool as RotF Leader OP is, it is a bit of a handful to simply play around with and transform than say my Voyager Classics OP.

Yeah, I love the Alternity packaging. They're reat for display and I just love the design of the packaging. It's efficient in not using more space than needed and uses a molded plastic enclosure(to heck with plastic ties!) to keep things snug. The Alternity line has consistency from its figures to its packaging, which I appreciate. Attention to detail gets bonus points from me.

Prime is Prime. Regardless whether he be G1,Beastie,Alternity,Binaltech/Alternator etc.
Even in the MP-01 manual, the various incarnations of Convoy were, all considered Convoys.......until Superlink that is (up to 2004) so Takara considers them all Convoys i.e Primes.
Now back to who is the best or highly recommended based on personal opinions mind you, Binaltech/KissPlayers/Alternators .............I prefer the first two(own both). Robot mode aint perfect sure but well, the latter has a sexy girl and surfboard while the former is as heavy as a brick.Just buy the TF gastank/ion blaster and you're home run bro'

The TFX-ABT-01 accessory is great for Alternators OP/BT,KP Convoy.
BT Convoy is one of the BTs I definitely want to get. Alternators OP seems to have gotten short changed on the colour scheme department. BT Convoy has better looking blue legs and a silver/metallic waist/belt section.

I'll chip in here - I have both the red and black versions of Alternity Convoy, and I think they're both pretty awesome. They're like baby Alternators - smaller, but slightly more evolved.
It's slightly back-heavy due to the die cast central part, and the hip joints seem slightly weak (although that could just be mine), both of which limit its ability to hold some poses, but overall it is a great mould. It has both a highly accurate alt mode and a very detailed 'bot mode. The die cast gives it a good weight, and (slightly weak hips aside) it's very well constructed, so it feels (at least to me) that the price is well justified.
As far as I'm concerned, the only question with Alternity Convoy is... which colour to get
As an aside - I caught a repeat of Top Gear the other week in which Jeremy Clarkson was test driving / reviewing the GT-R, and I couldn't help thinking right through it "he's test driving Optimus Prime!"

I also got the black one because it just looks exceptionally cool. I skipped the silver one because I didn't think it fit the character.

Nice, thanks for your take on Alternity Convoy. I'm still deciding which color I really want, I'm leaning more toward the black version simplay bc it looks pretty sweet.

Alternity Convoy Super Black is a good figure. I thought the dominance of black colour/paint in the figure would obscure details but thankfully that's not the case. It's one slick figure in alt and bot modes. I really like Ultimate Silver too, the colour scheme has a bit of an armour-less Ultra Magnus vibe to it for me. I'm trying to find Vibrant Red for a decent price but no luck yet.

Yup, I'm checking eBay every day for Vibrant Red, hehe.
The cool thing about Alternity is that the fiction establishes that every repaint is a different character.
Vibrant Red Convoy is the "traditional" Convoy/Optimus Prime(I'm assuming this is G1). Ultimate Silver is the Convoy of the Binaltech world. Super Black is Universe 2003 Nemesis Prime from the future.
Blade Silver Megatron is the "traditional" Megatron(like Vibrant Red, it seems to imply G1). Premium Lemans Blue Megatron is the Megatron of the Binaltech world. Diamond Black Megatron's fiction has yet to be revealed.

Yea, it's pretty interesting. I know this topic is about Optimus Prime, but I still have to say how awesome the Alternity Megatron is. The two blades makes him feel like some type of samurai.

Yeah, I love some of the details of Alternity Megatron like the shoulder armour that looks like the sode from a typical suit of yoroi. The Diamond Black colour scheme is evocative of samurai armour for me because of the black, gold, and red-orange, which can be seen in the armour below.

Alternity Convoy has a dynamic look despite being fairly chunky in the shoulder and lower leg regions.

I love the way that the design hearkens back to G1 carbot designs like Prowl with the door "wings", engine/torso area, and legs composed of teh trunk area.
However, should we get a fair number of figures in the Alternity line...it could be boring for some who want more variety in alt modes because so far all the alt modes are sporty cars. Even so, Alternity Convoy is is a top notch figure in my opinion.

True dat, I think the ability Megatron has to store the blades on each side is sweet. Convoy should've gotten a long samurai sword to go with him.

I like how Convoy has ranged weapons(forearm blasters) and Megatron has melee weapons(swords and wrist blades). It's a nice distinction between the figures.

Probably explains why Optimus Prime wins in every incarnation against Megatron.
