I would expect the recolor to be in Trypticon, Overkill or Goryu colors.

Gee, I dunno. There are so many options PPWTT could go with. They could recolor this masterpiece brown and black to give 1987s Predator a subtle nod. Name it something like BRAIN-FCKR! Cause, you know, that's what Predators did in the movies, right?

Or we could take a page from 1991 and make Super Shredder from TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze!! Add a few more spikes in the right places and we could call it HORNY KNIFE GUY!!

We could probably get away with dropping this innovative art piece in a bucket or red paint and throwing a Statue of Liberty head on the body as a homage to Mon-Star from Silverhawks too! Call him KO-TEX!!

Oh hell, just pop off one of the hands and market it as the antagonist Claw from the Insepctor Gadget cartoon! We could call it "HANDJOB"!!

Oh boy, it's a good thing these guys used to work for Hasbro otherwise people who collect transformers would miss out on these wonderful hidden gems of childhood gold that, coincidentally, have no transforming gimmick integrated what-so-ever!!

I would say it's only a matter of time before Mr. Potato Head here gets a Mumm-Ra repaint. Which is totally fitting seeing as this is a ThunderCats fan site.

. . . wait a minute . . .

Pretender Grimlock looks pretty cool. I'm interested to see how the "inner" robot turns out.

The problem with the multiple threads is they're all hitting at once. The issue isn't that they're separate necessarily, it's that the volume makes them unwieldy.

Does each individual Combiner Wars figure get its own thread? No. There's a catchall for all of that, because there's too much news happening, and it would be too complex to maintain a thread for each figure. Mainline TF threads tend to be sub-line based or event-based.

That should probably be the case here too... especially since the interest around PWTT seems to be limited on these boards, and the 3rd Party forum is the unwanted stepchild of this site anyway.

Not to say I don't appreciate the news, but for a Kickstarter that hasn't even started yet (but will this week!) perhaps it would make more sense to consolidate all the news in one easy to access thread.

One thing to remember in repaints though is there has to be a market for third toy because no toy like that already exists. The deco works as Boneyard/Grimlock because the only other option is the brick-like G1 toy. Therefore some people might want this.

Selling it as a 6 inch articulated Sub-Zero deco version, and you have to compete with the actual 6 inch Sub-Zero action figure that sells for $46 on Amazon.com. Would any Sub-Zero deco Play With This Too makes compete with this?

Now if you make a Pretender Overkill deco, at least that's something new.

They were just the first things that came to mind looking at the art work .

To say they would have to compete with other lines would bring up the question why make a Skeletor and GI Joe repaints ?

Why would a Joe guy want a 6" or a MOTU guy want a mutant Skeletor when there a perfect classics already out .

Of course Hasbro don't make articulated 6 inch Joes (and PWTToo have not actually offered any full GI Joe figures anyways, just some heads!), but the Skeletor point is valid.

The Skeletor is, as you say, mutant, and it is possible PWTToo think MOTU collectors will want to collect every Skeletor (There is space Skepetor, Battle Armor Skeletor, snakeman Skeletor, etc.), much like some people collect every Optimus Prime, so they will think people will buy a demonic Skeletor. Also, MOTUC Skeletor figures go for big bucks, so maybe PWTToo think they can cash in on some of that loot. I agree they might make more by making guys who look in the STYLE of MOTU without making actual MOTU characters, since MOTU already make modern articulated 6-7 inch figures. That's the sort of thing the PWTToo Serpents of the Coiled Table and Manvil figures look like. They are like additional background characters in a Masters of the Universe episode.

Re: Play With This Too Head Shots

Postby Scaleface » Sun Feb 22, 2015 8:00 pm

Some more fun with heads from Play With This Too. They have released art of the Supremacy Scepters, some fun accessories you can get in their Kickstarter, which begins on the 27th.

These are staffs and weapons that can be held by their figures, or other guys who can hold 5mm handles. They have ball joints where your spare heads can be placed and 5mm holes for BMOG-like add-on fun.

We also have the Head Stands, which are slightly larger, single piece stands that can be used to hold the spare heads!

Some will even be glow in the dark!

Hmm, I don't remember there ever being a Pretender Overkill

On that note, if PWTT aren't prepared to compete with others then they shouldn't be begging transformers fans to fund their little after school arts & crafts projects.

Besides, PWTT are already competing with this . . .

I've also made the comparison to Hero Mashers.

Kinda got the impression these Hasbro guys, took the Hero Mashers idea.

Think this parts swapping is more for the younger kids and less for adults. As various lines that are in stores right now. That offer this gimmick cater them to the much younger kids.

Think parts swapping works better on $10 retail figures. as the toys are low priced enough to ripp apart, swap around and not care about wear and tear on the toys.

Seriously doubt many fans who buy expensive 3rd party toys. would be willing to ripp these PWTT toys apart on a daily basis to do parts swapping on them.

PWTT is the company name.

What will the name for these toys get called? How about naming the toy line, Zombies Roids mashers

That feature is more for making customs easy than for making random mashups. Similar to they way JoeCon exclusives are made by matching up body parts and repainting them, you can make custom figures from PWTToo.

For instance the Joe club exclusive Cross Country from 2014 was made using torso and waist of Shock Trooper (2011), the upper arms of Sgt. Stone (2009), the lower arms of the lower arms of Storm Shadow (v34a) (2009) and Storm Shadow (v34b) (2009), the upper legs of Zartan (v17) (2009), the lower legs and feet of Flash (v3) (2009), and a new head. This isn't a Hero Masher thing, it's done with all action figure lines.

Does the figure below look like a "hero masher"? It's made of reused and recolored parts.

That combination is perfectly plausible for generic human sized, generic geared, generic colored figures. Not so much for rainbow-neon colored mutants. Regardless, this further illustrates my point. The fact that they are capable of being mashed up like these proves these are all, basically, the same figure with very slight differences.
