I am considering ordering a PP01U Ultra Magnus figure from TFSource:

It will fit in with the my current collection. I've read elsewhere that some members here do not like iGear products, but if anyone has this figure and can tell me anything about it including if it ever broke during transformation at all, I'd like to know. None of my transformers are played with. They are all transformed periodically and displayed. This thing can't be any more brittle than my DOTM figures (Including Voyager Prime). I have to add that I have a custom Ultra Magnus project planned for the near future and think this would be an excellent base figure for that.

Opinions? GO!

What a piece of junk! I hardly put any pressure to it.
1 - Once I removed everything from the clear plastic tray, I decided to reattach the Megatron UNCLE stock back to the pistol. Next thing I know, one side of the clip tabs broke off.
2 - On my 1st transformation, I started to rotated the lower left chest attached to the wheel. The darn thing snapped and broke off.
3 - My Matrix container was assembled wrong! I had to unscrew and rotate the panel because it was interfering with the chest doors in vehicle mode.
4 - On my 2nd transformation, the lower right chest spring and circular metal started to shoot out by itself just when I rotated it. Now I lost both pieces of the chest. At least this chest is still attaching.
5 - I didn't even realize I broke one of the smaller tabs of the chest door, LOL.
6 - The wrist band is easily detachable.

Ok. That tells me not to buy this one.Thanks for the input. Do you know anything about the Classic Prime or Classic Ultra Magnus? Are they better than this one?

The official Classic Ultra Magnus is very sturdy and durable in both joints and material. I would definitely recommended this.

As for PP01U, the mold itself is beautiful since its nearly identical to real Masterpiece. I just wish they use a better material and a better connection. One Youtube reviewer had his PP01U leg snapped off from the crotch. With this in mind, I tried to be careful with mine yet other problems occurred. It's ashamed because the figure is so awesome yet crappy in material and connection.

I had that classic Ultra Magnus and now totally regret giving it away when I did. I think that my G1 Prime that's on it's way to me would fit the classic Ultra Magnus trailer and armor. If that is the case, perhaps I will base my custom Ultra Magnus on that G1, for display purposes. I intent to display my transformers posed in various "scenes" rather than lumped together in a glass case. Not knocking those kinds of displays, as they showcase the awesome collections you guys have. Just want to do something different.

I'm really disappointed to hear that the PP01U can't stand up to mere transformation due to low grade materials. It's a shame someone has not produced upgrade kits for parts that aren't durable, so as to at least bring the PP01U up to a higher level of durability. Right now an MP just isn't in the budget at $250 to $350, but up to $129 is acceptable.

I'm going to go ahead and ask here rather than start a new thread, if the PP01C from iGear is just as bad as the PP01U? I don't know because I don't have one. I've watched a couple of video reviews where it was transformed and didn't brake. Is there a difference in the materials and/or construction of the PP01C Clear Leader versus the PP01U, due to it being a "second edition" and a clear ABS material? I see where the original was replaced with an "enhanced" PP01C in September 2010. Did anyone receive that "enhanced" PP01C and how does it compare to the original? According to this, the reissue is made of stronger ABS material and mold problems have been fixed. If that is the case and this one is better, I am looking at getting it from TFSource. I am waiting for an answer from them on if it is the Reissue or the original.

Anyone who has the PP01C reissue or knows someone who does, I'd like to hear from you on this.
