I don't have Primal, Dinobot is my first Beast MP. I am going for Megs, got him on Pre-order from Amazon japan. I was thinking about getting the MP Primal reissue, or getting one still at TFsource, but I'm gonna hold off on that until I get the Throne of the Primes set, seeing as how with that I will have a season 1 and season 3 Primal basically in color.

See, that's the odd thing, I think his robot mode is the better of the 2, even though raptor mode is not bad at all. I think his raptor mode would be more on par to robot mode if his raptor thighs had a bit more movement in them, and maybe another side to side swivel in the tail.

This is one of my few complaints about the figure. While it doesn't hamper posability as much as you'd think, I did find it odd to have those thighs static and stuck.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:I think his raptor mode would be more on par to robot mode if his raptor thighs had a bit more movement in them,
I'm not sure I can rank one of his modes above the other, but I'm right there with Densh about the expressiveness of that Dino head.

Robot mode is a deluxe sized chunky piece of fun. The shoulders don't peg in, but they are fairly stiff and stay put. I adore the head, and the train bits are fantastic. I love the legs with the wheels and pistons and cowcatcher, they're great!
Transformation is pretty fun. I had to get the right leg to reluctantly cooperate the first time but it's been smooth railing since. Train mode is adorable! The one weakness is you can see the head through the gap in the back sides due to transformation, but that's a minor thing. Hammer stores nicely, and the train mode is where he really shines. I love it, and now I need some rails for it.
Also, the hammer is well painted, and while I don't like it being hollow on one side like a retail TF figure, the colors are fantastic. I would recommend him.

Pretty snug in bot mode. Beast mode is a bit finnicky depending on the bends in the leg joints. It's not like he needs to be upright, just more like how much his knee is bent varies the tightness. If his knees are a bit tucked up and closer to his body, he can basically do what he wants with tons of stability. If he has his legs fully extended to max height, more poses and basic standing are affected and a bit harder to balance.

I'll start with Doubledealer: the base mode is the artillery truck mode, with the autobot powermaster unlocking some parts to turn him into his humanoid robot mode, with some add on bits for the chest and guns, and then the con one turns him into a bird of prey. Honestly, this guy is so worth it on the G1 scale, and he does something that no one else ever has done. He feels like Punch/Counterpunch even, just using powermasters.
I've also ordered him and Grotusque some reprolabels from Toyhax, so they will get all properly stickered up, seeing as how between them the only sticker still there is the one on Doubledealer near the cab in truck mode.
As a bonus, I rearranged some things to add Dinobot to the group, and among the rearrangements is a shelf dedicated to my generations ladies, and Firestar will join them (and most likely send TR Windblade back to Fort Max's Shoulder, until maybe COG comes)

They cleaned up incredibly well. I love these 2, and I think Grotusque if my favorite G1 toy. But all my G1 toys are pretty fun, and I get ones that interest me, so it's a hard contest.

the 3 SS guys were found at Target saturday, and Blot today at Walmart, freshly stocked. I passed on a Cyberverse Shockwave at Target since I am now expecting that Siege Leader one. I also went back and picked up a 2nd Blot and Sinnertwin for someone in a group chat who has a little autistic buddy who was short those 2 for an Abominus. They will be headed to their new owner tomorrow.
Also found underwear with Marvel G1 comic art, and this is the 3rd or 4th time the GF and I have seen it, and it was down to $4.50, so she convinced me to get them

Jazz went to work with me today. I have only Transformed Megs once and the others not at all, and Megs was solely for my GF to take some pictures with her new camera (she chose him). I gotta say, wave 2 is good, but each figure is just slightly not perfect. The deluxes are my favorite of this wave though, like the leaders were my favorite of wave 1. Jazz is cute, and Lockdown is pretty fantastic in that front.

And finally, MAXIMAL PRIME!!!!!

Not D-Max, but I really like him. The figure itself is really good, and the only problem I have with it is that it feels too small for its $20 price point (which is to say, I don't have an issue with the size itself; just that it feels a tad overpriced).carytheone wrote:How's lil Jazz? Jazz is quite cool. Finally transformed him and he is fun to transform. He is tiny, but it's part of his charm. The colors are super swish and I love the silver. The head sculpt is really cool too, he feels great! He's fun, and the deluxe I'd recommend the most along with Lockdown.
And here are some pics from Bri Bri. She shared a google drive folder with me, so these are from her camera. Only the 2nd time using it too, I think she did good. It was 11pm at night (she turned 21 sunday, we were waiting to go at midnight) and the lighting in her school house isn't that good, but I think they are still good

Thanks for the input. Yeah $20 does seem high and one of the reasons I haven't jumped yet. He's on the list, just not towards the top.Autobot N wrote:Not D-Max, but I really like him. Ditto on the thanks. I have the old Lockdown mold and the Hot Rod redeco (which is worlds better) and Locky isn't one of my favs. I am however interested in the orange redeco of the new mold (can't remember its name).D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Jazz is quite cool. Cool cool. What is she shooting with? Is is taking photography classes (my Mrs did in the higher learning school)? More of just a causal hobbyist interest? Who does the posing? You know, Counterpunch started a serious (no punches held (pun intended)) photography thread that a few years back. It never really took off though. I'm sure I could find it somewhere if you wanted to pick at that scab.

She's trying it out casually. She likes to take pictures and wanted to see what she could do with a camera. I don't really know what type of camera she uses, but I can ask.

Yeah I have nothing pro or con Lockdown, he just doesn't visually appeal to me. I do have the TFA TAV redeco figure which is cool and a different dude sorta that I like. And I have the Ani flavored Q Transformer figure of him. So maybe I'm a closeted Lockdown fan?D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Despite the fact that Lockdown isn't one of my favorites either (I hated that assmonkey when he killed Ratchet) the toy itself is awesome, and you should get it in some capacity. Shadow Raider would be good, though I am sticking to 1 per mold use.

I'm in the same boat, just a casual interest in photography. I've learned a few things, but could learn a lot more. With in reason, the camera is irrelevant as long as you know the basics. I mostly shot with my cellphone now in "pro" mode. I pull out my wife's camera when I'm feeling fancy. I just haven't been able to commit the time lately. It's a micro 4/3s with replaceable lens and I always shot full manual.
The biggest thing when taking pics of anything large, small, indoors or out is lighting or using the settings to control the exposure and such. A little knowledge goes a long way. TFs in particular are hard because of their size. They are like a mini still life.
I'll search around for that thread. Been a while, a long while and I un-subbed a long time ago, so who knows.
