I had no problem at all getting my TFC-06 reissue from a US seller without an orange cap being added. Now MP-05 might be a different story...

Does anyone have a pic. with Megatron and his orange tip? Also, I got my re-reissue with no problem.

I thought we were talking about this:http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10603&mode=retail, not the Masterpiece Megatron.

The thread title said otherwise. My bad.
Besides, the commotion that this is causing with all the complaints makes it probable that any version of him in the USofGuns will need a dutch-cap soon.

I didn't stop to realize that both Megatrons are #06 in their series. I think we were talking about TFC #06 and somewhere in the mix it changed to MP-06, however by doing so it raises another interesting question.

Was TFC #06 sold at BBTS with an orange cap prior to this whole mess or was that a retroactive thing they did to be consistant on their stance in the wake of the decision to cap MP-06? I never noticed it before because I did not buy my Takara re-issue through them. I only noticed it about a week ago when I was looking for a different Takara re-issue.

Actually they're not. Masterpiece Megatron should be MP-05. Unless there was another Masterpiece issue between Prime w/Trailer and Megs. The only site I've seen that putting orange tips on TFC-06 Megatron is BBTS.

By design and due to the current toy gun laws, it is not supposed to be removable, so I would expect it to not be. As far as the Takara Generation 1 Megatron is concerned, there are so many places it can be bought un-moddified so there really is no reason to put yourself through all the trouble. Masterpiece Megatron is still up in the air as to how it will even be handeled, but I would expect it's cap is not supposed to be removeable.

I'm still not sure if it's going to be a 'cap' or a 'plug'? Depending on where you read about it some will say it's one or the other. They're not the same thing though and I would assume that a 'plug' would be better for people who want to take it off. A glued on cap would be a real pain.

The rule that BBTS posted on their site says "permantly" I doubted it's just a simple plug.

I can pick up the re-re-issue at a store here in Ontario with out the orange cap no problem. That leads me to beleave I won't have any problems with getting MP Megs sans cap as well.

Either way it will be glued in place "permanently" but I believe taking a plug out will be easier than taking a cap off. Depending on the glue used there could be damage left on the outside caused by a cap. That's worse than damage caused by a plug on the inside of the barrel where you can't see it.
Of course the glue could be the weak yellow stuff that is used to seal boxes. In that case no worries; I've pryed WST's boxes open without damaging them. As long as the glue is warmed it gives quite easily.
I wonder if they will all be modified in the same fashion? Maybe depending on who you order from you could get either a glued in plug or cap?
I'm not concerned about getting an unmodded one. As long as I don't import from a U.S seller I'll be fine.

Don't give them ANY money for this bastardization of an awesome toy. Ebay, tfsource.com, and robotkingdom are much much better choices.

Um, BBTS is complying with the LAW. They're a business that's trying to make money. Just because they put an orange cap in a toy to abide by the laws which govern those of us who live in the United States, doesn't make them a bad company, though you are most certainly entitled to your opinion.

It'll be an even easier matter than that. Only BBTS has had such a strong policy towards capping the reissue Megatron in the past (they wouldn't import it from Japan when first released). Any other online store could and will carry TFC-06 without a problem.

no I realize that, whole heartedly, but ontop of how crazy this cap business is where they flip flopped (first saying they won't carry the item at all, because that would mean modifying it, and then saying they will carry it but modify it, and scaring alot of places like jrs toyworld into following suit or not even taking orders) I've been less than satisfactory with some purchases made with them. I've had excellent service from them in general, but, Tfsource has been better for me by alot as of late (including having the ehobby black ths-02 convoy almost $15 cheaper than bbts)

don't get me wrong, I'd still reccomend them as a store if anyone asks, just not in this instance with the caps, because there are plenty of places to grab an unmodified megatron reissue, and theres always ebay and a few online shops for the masterpiece unmoddified.

One thing I'm a little concerned about, I just ordered TFC Megatron off Robotkingdom the other day... since they're based in Hong Kong, will he actually get here w/o the orange tip?

I'm scared that my $80 might go down the drain because US Customs might seize the item...

I did order MP Megs from BBTS... but I'm not really pissed about the cap, because I intend to take it off. If it doesn't come off, maybe it's for the best... I tend to do dumb things all the time, and it might just keep me from being shot, heh. At least I know I'm going to get him.

I'm sorry if I have missed it posted somewhere else, but what places are selling an unmodified mp megs? Just about every place I have checked has the disclaimer of "due to American laws etc...", and I do not want to pay $100+ for an opened product.

Well, I don't hate BBTS, I brought one from them because I really want one just in case all else fails. I heard BBTS is going to make it easy to remove it anyway? Either way I'm getting one.

CapturePrey.com is in the U.S and they're shipping unmodiffied too, so I hope I get both from them and BBTS. I'll take pictures, so all of you get to see if it's worth it in the end. :)

I don't know any names off hand, but tfsource at one point had preorders for the unmoddified megs, however they filled up rather fast once place slike jrs either canceled their orders completely or places followed suit with bigbadtoystore's orange cap thing.

again, if they're capping it to play it safe, its not gonna be easy to remove, they even state on their site that the toy gun law requires a PERMANENT cap, meaning it wont be easy at all to simply remove. I think I already told you this in a different thread...
