A near moment of weakness
- Motto: "Seibertron.com: Other sites lack the meat!"

The other day I was in a K-Mart for the first time in ages. I was there to buy something else but of course I drifted into the toy section before long.
On the shelves were the normal Universe figures, Animated, Robot Hereoes, etc.
And then I saw it.
They had the exclusive minicon 12 pack and even though I never buy minicons on their own, I felt very weak there for a moment.
The box was one of the nicest I have seen in a long time. It displayed each figure beautifully and the rest of the package was equally nice. The figures themselves looked nicer than a lot of minicons I have seen before, I think Hasbro picked them well.
I could almost see a miniature version of Counterpunch on my shoulder egging me on to take the plunge and just buy the set but I finally backed away and resisted temptation.
A few days later, no regrets. Of course, sometimes it works the other way, like last year when I passed up buying the Target Movie G1 Jazz redeco because I was short on bucks that day. I never saw him again and will probably eventually buy him for a lot more than I could have that day.
So my question is this - what was the last Tf you came thiiiiisclose to buying, why didn't you and do you wish you would have?

Same as yours. Couldn't justify the price on the Friday, went back the following Wednesday and the set was half-price. Conned the Mrs out of £17.49 and snapped it up, this one paid off. Still haven't opened it but that's largely because they look so great in the box

Right now it's the Collectors Club Seacons. I had sold my Dorvack version of Whirl and some other odds n ends, so I had some $$$ in the Paypal account.
However the family christmas present (Wiifit) took precedence.
I hate the high road sometimes, I want robots lol!
I also regret not picking up the classics Jetfire while it was in stores. I had been cutting my collection down (TREMENDOUSLY) to just 1984/85 and Micromasters, and I saw it, loved it, and said "nope, I don't do new stuff anymore, there's too much of it coming out"
Now I realy REALLY want it - inspired by the newest Universe incarnations of Prowl, etc. I wish I could just hop down to Wal mart and pick it up, I htink it is actually causing me physical pain.

The BotCon 07 Set. That year was my first BotCon, and I went with the Protoform Package to save some cash. Even though I now have Henkei Thundercracker, and I can live without Dirge and Thrust, my Classics Universe shelf still feels empty. I know what it is, it's Dreadwind, the awesome repaint of Classics Jetfire. Dreadwind was one of my first TransFormers when I was a child, and not getting that homage when I had the chance still haunts me.

I guess the closest I got was with that Ultra Magnus-Skywarp pack. I was going to get it on clearance for 14 bucks, and didn't at the last moment. Came back later, turned it down again. I regretted it a while later, but now, I don't care as much.

That was the first thing in mind when I bought those Minicons.
What an awesome box!
Quite the 'bitty to get them all out, though.
On topic, the only TFs I regret not purchasing are certain Takara TFC and eHobby Reissues. There was a time when they were dirt cheap, and I was a tight-ass, now they are in high demand and expensive, and I still wold like them eventually.
As they say, live and learn.

Re: A near moment of weakness
I am really on the fence about E-hobby's city guardian.$219.99 +shipping at BBTS.I really love the fig but just don't need to spend that much right now with christmas around the corner not to mention alot more pre-orders in with BBTS. I know that if I decide to get it later then I will have to pay dearly if it is no longer in stock.I have a feeling that this will be a highly sought after figure later and I will really regret it if I don't buy it.......alas I just don't have the money right now.

Re: A near moment of weakness
I actually had one of the five MP Starscreams on the shelf in my shopping cart next to the week's food and various sundries at Wal Mart last season. I kept looking at it repeatedly, thinking the $40 price label on the shelf couldn't be right for such an excellent figure. I checked a price machine and it was actually $68 or something like that (the $20 label was for voyagers). It was getting towards the end of the month and I was running out of cash that week. I couldn't bring myself to justify the purchase, no matter how hard I tried. Necessities first, I told myself. Besides, it's $70! Who in this area buys the big-ticket toys besides me?
The Starscream from my cart ended up on a shelf in the model section behind some obscure military vehicles, hopefully awaiting payday in three days. I left Wal Mart with my necessities, fingers crossed in anticipation of the following Thursday's paycheck.
Needless to say, it wasn't to be.
I've regretted it ever since, and have yet to find another SS for anywhere near the retail price I could have had it for.
le sigh.

Botcon 2001. I traded my exclusive figures to a dealer for a complete G1 Abominus. Now I love my Terrorcons but I am kicking myself to this day for it. Not because I traded my exclusives, no because I passed over a complete G1 Computron, who is my favorite gestalt. I love the Technobots and for the life of me I don't know what I was thinking. I would give almost anything for a Computron even that Abominus I bought instead. (

Re: A near moment of weakness
I live a life without regrets, and to an extent, pants.
Put back several Transformers over the years, I didn't need them, so I didn't get them. Passed on MP Screamer, all of the movie line, most of Cybertron, a few of Energon, and a heck of a lot of G1.
I had better uses for the money, books, video games, food.
So I life without regrets.

More times than I care to count!
What usually happens to me, though, is this:
Hey I wanted him and now he's on sale, I'll pick him up next week.
- next week -
Still on sale and they have lots. I'll get him next week.
- 6 months later -
Hmm not in stores anymore, those were everywhere, I'll snag one cheap on the 'bay.
YOU WANT HOW MUCH!!!!!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!!!!!
(I'm looking at you Cybertron Prime)

I kept putting off buying Henkei Megs until he disappeared from the shops and then bought him at the Odaiba Toy Show for 5000 yen. Crap. Then he started reappearing on shelves...
Also every time I see Fortress Maximus I don't have the spare cash and when I do go on a spending spree he's never around.

Universe Classics Cliffjumper...
Each time I looked at him I kept thinking...I don't really need a red Bumblebee, but if it gets marked down... Now I'm trying to catch up with all the classics figures out there and I'm kicking myself for not picking him up when I had the chance. Now I'm rummaging through ebay for the best price possible wishing I had bought him on retail.
Also, Universe Classics Blaster...always seems like when I mentally commit to picking up a figure they disappear off the face of the earth before landing on ebay demanding more then it's worth.

Exactly the same here... went into Woolworths last week, it was £35. I was going to wait until after payday. Then I saw it tonight at half price... very cool set. Pain in the exhaust pipe to get them all out of the box, but very cool.
As for moments of weakness that I regret not succumbing to - part of me regrets not picking up one of the voyager Movie Primes (original or G1 repaint). I already had leader class and didn't want another of the same character (even though I have 4 Bumblebees and wanted a leader Brawl to go with the deluxe).
I also kinda regret not getting classics Astrotrain. I passed on it because the train mode looked a bit too skinny for my liking. When I go to Forbidden Planet, I sometimes hope they'll have found another one to put on the racks
