Of all the reasons people bring up to not like Alpha Bravo, I can honestly sympathize, if not agree, with all of them.... except the speed one. That just doesn't make any sense to me, honestly. Yes, in real life, a helicopter would be much slower than a bunch of jets. But Transformers doesn't take place in real life. I understand the need to have consistent rules in your universe so the audience understands the setting, but as AB is a robot that only looks like a helicopter, he isn't bound by the same mechanical limitations of the real model, so he could probably configure himself to go mach 1 or however fast the other bots are going at cruising speed.

The various different TF universes would agree with you. Transformers are always shown to be more capable then the alt mode would suggest.
Some examples in regard to flying vehicles-
Vortex has is shown to be capable of a jet like boost mode in FOC

GI-Joe vs Transformers characters even made comment of the A-10 (Rattler) mode performing aerial manoeuvres not capable by the non-transforming jets in that universe.

All universes regularly show jet transformers capable of leaving planetary orbit.

G1 Cartoon/Beast Machines jets show them moving at speeds that would not enable them to fly even hovering at times contrary to what their alt mode suggest.

COSMOS!!! His alt mode is a great example as if he were based off what UFO's are alleged to be capable of he would be unmatched in the skies if all the other fliers were only capable of what their real version of their alt mode can do. The Autobots wouldn't even need aerialbots.

Instead they try to legitimize Alpha Bravo by photoshopping him into G1 cartoon screenshots. WTF ?

So this is the place for Transformers fans to discuss how they feel about Alpha Bravo. Is he friend or foe ?

Well you're "anti-rant rant" is a first on here.

Watch "The Key to Vector Sigma" and you will see Slingshot is the only Aerialbot with an attitude which gave him personality. The other 3 limb bots were generic followers.

To be honest, i like the idea of new team members as it means each combiners gains a extra limb.

As far as Alpha Bravo goes, i think of him as the guy that the Aerialbots call in when they can't stand anymore of slingshot's attitude. :grin:

I'll address all the Combiner Rookies..

I'm committed to Takara's G1 faithful Combiners, but I've also been buying Hasbo's as well since I have no issues with new members. But when it got down to Defensor I thought of just getting Rook, Gaurdia, and skipping the rest of Hasbro's. But now I'm thinking of having both, and maybe even displaying them side by side as I think it would be neat to show off the differences between the two.

It's likely what I'll end up doing mostly cause Gaurdia won't be released till... what? September or something? I simply can't wait that long

My OPINION is Hasbro wanted to see how far they can push the bar to see exactly what type of fans buy Generations figures. Are they G1 traditionalists? Are they IDW fanatics? Do they care more about the playability of limb swapping OR the homage factor of the original characters the toys represent?

The younger market. This is technically also for them, and not just for us older fans. As I'm sure someone has said already, they're keeping things fresh for OPEN-MINDED, FLEXIBLE older fans and the younger, still easily impressionable but very fickle youth market.
