If Hasbro made a line called Collector's Version and did repaints like this and charged about $30 US more for it. I WOULD BUY IT!

Couple of Questions:
1. For repaints like these, how do the toys feel afterward? Any stickiness? Any tendency to flake off? Are you still able to handle them, transform them, play with them?
2. Where can I learn about doing repaints like these myself? Types of paint, procedures, taking apart the toys, etc?

it really depends on the paint.. like you don't ever want to use enamel on vinyl.. it stays sticky forever!!!

Now that is one hell of a custom.
I wouldn't pay $760 for it, but it sure is a nice, and very unique version.
Really wish Hasbro would take some notes from all the customs that are being pumped out. I know for cost reasons their versions can never be as good, but just the general colours being used (ie: Darker Greens on Brawl) would be good for them to copy.

Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

that custom job really brings out the best in the figure. Leader class really wasn't helpful for Megs and Prime due to a kibble and bulky look but for Brawl it makes him look good. He might be the first leader class I'll want to spend money on, I do need the others but they have been lower priority.

cool cool, very nice custom indeed. as for your question #1, im pretty sure if you use a spray fixative after everything is painted everything would be fine. a spray fixative holds and seals the paint in place, kinda like a clear non-glossy protective thingy that prevents the paint from getting chipped and scratched.... not sure about the stickiness though. but it protects pretty damn good up to a certain extent, meaning if you keep on transforming it, the fixative might and can wear off. but i doubt you would transform a fig like that again and again, as a custom like that would be more of a collector showpiece you'd want to display rather than play with.Bonecrusher27 wrote:Couple of Questions:

Thanks Tom! What I was thinking though was even as a collector's piece I'd want to transform him from time to time to show off both modes. Now if I was rich enough to buy both, I'd display one robot mode and one alt mode, but since I ain't...
Beautiful work, though I can see how if one were to own even one of these the level of satisfaction getting other off the shelf ones would drop. And maybe start a quest for custom repaints... no way I could support that financially! I'll just make do with Leader Brawl off the shelf

it does look awesome, but that isnt really anything that hard to do. Its basically just dry brushing and some black washing and a few added details here and there. The battle scars are done with a soldering iron. Easily done and not worth the money it sold for, but if people want this sorta stuff then id be more than willing to repaint toys and sell them for this kinda money too.

i wish hasbro would have just painted the movie figures the same colors as the characters are in the movie, like no blue blackout, or sand starscream, or light grey megatron, or a solid dark green brawl, and like the grey on leader prime the same as the silver on robo vision prime.
