Considering the KO Swoops are now out there you can pretty much kiss any chance of a full set being reissued goodbye. :?

Well here's a link to an auction that already ended so anyone that wants to see the picture of the Swoop Knock-Off can see it without drawing excessive attention to it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220078627346

The best I can tell from the picture, it looks pretty convincing for the most part. I'd hope that if someone were going to do alternative colors, I'd like to see a more show accurate color scheme with blue in it.

Not too shabby for a KO, I'll give it that. I like my original MISB Swoop better though. Call me... sentimental.

While I absolutely enjoy them, I would hate to think I had to settle for the World's Smallest Transformers versions and even that is not a complete team, although I anticipate the rest to be released from Justitoys sooner or later. There website shows the outline of the rest of the team but the info seems a little dated. I guess I'll just have to hope for an amazing vintage find on ebay or collect them one at a time depending on their conditions.

i'd buy him if he actually looked like he did on the box(pointy beak, gold accents, etc)...but no that would be an improvement on the tf toy, we cant have that.

I have all the Dinobots MISB. Got them about 5 years ago from a comic book store owner who didn't know what he had. I dropped 3Gs that day and bought almost every G1 figure I could want MISB.

That's a little much for a KO. I'm going to wait a while until more get out there and the price goes down some.

I thought I heard that WST Sludge would be coming out in the next month or two.

Don't count on it. High quality KOs usually stay at a high fixed price point or even go higher up. Example being Cyclonus.

How high did the KO Cyclonus go? I just remember when BBTS was selling them and never paid attention to it again.

Fine. You're Sentimental. As for the Dinobot Re-Issues, I highly doubt we'll ever see them. The KO Swoop is probably about the closest thing you'll get to a Re-Issue. As for Hasbro or Takara getting them out, it's not gonna happen. Despite Grimlock & the Dinobots being highly popularin the US, it just isn't enough to get them Re-Issued. I could see a figures like the Mini-Bots before the Dinobots. As for Takara, I don't think they would spring for them either. I see them doing another Seeker, possibly Skywaor or Thundercracker, maybe the Coneheads. No Dinobots.....good thing I already got all of 'em, so I don't have to search or wait for Re-Issues.

Now that I think about it, four of the five moulds are still out there. Swoop is the most resent and Grimlock, Snarl and Slag were brought back in awful colours in G2. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for them to get their hands on the Sludge mould either. A little while back Takara did a online poll asking fans what they wanted for the next re-issue. The dinobots were at the top of the list followed by Predaking. For what ever reason, the Predaking giftset was re-issued and not the Dinobots.

I would think the Dinos would get a re-issuing eventually, if it were just Takara runnig things. Tomy has said they don't like doing re-issues because they are more interested in new toys as opposed to old toys for some older fans. They have the ability to make a Dinobot giftset, but I don't think Takara Tomy want to go down that road anymore.

Apparently Tomy hates money as I would think Transformers Re-Issues have become quite the lucrative business. If they don't do it the bootleggers will, as we have already seen. What about Hasbro, are they in the same boat as far as a re-issue of the Dinobots go. I swear, I'll start emailing Hasbro if that's all it takes.

They won't bother with re-issues as they didn't get a steller response from the last time they did it and the Movie is taking top priority for a little while.

But do we know that for sure?

I see a lot of people assuming reissues are a big business and have generated a fair bit of money for Takara.

Didn't they merge with Tomy to save themselve from going bankrupt? :???:

That aside. SOME of the TCS reissues were and are hard to come by, but I still a number of them readily available on E-Bay. So I have to wonder just how well the TCS line sold for Takara.

It's odd that they would take that stance considering a sizeable chunk of their Zoids line has been remoulds/re-issues for the last decade or so. Even now they're releasing giftsets of the original whitehead/clamshell kits. Maybe it has something to do with the cost of manufacturing boxed kits vs. fully assembled figures but it still shows they recognize the market for older collectibles.

There's no doubt in my mind that there will always be a market for older collectables, but the question is do the people making the re-issues see it as a sizable gain or loss. Just making a profit isn't enough now a days for companies like TT. They need to make sure it will constantly reel them in a profit. TCS for example, alot of the older moulds were very popular, but when it got to character like kup and wheelie, those two weren't exactly big players over in Japan even though they used TargetMaster Kup. There are still some G1s that I would love to get my hands on, but I don't see it happening anytime this year outside of eBays diamond tipped prices.

Isn't that really poor planning on the manufacturer's part though? Did we really need a re-issue of Kup and Wheelie? Did they strategize to see how well it would sell or consider what re-issues the fans wanted? Obviously there is money to be made and there definitely is a market for it, especially after seeing the price gouging on ebay and online retailers and the large after market resell of the re-issues. Habro's TRU commemorative Soundwave is having a tough time finding a comfortable space on the store shelves and they have had a tough time keeping the online store stocked. You could arguee that it is Shockwave (Soundblaster repaint technically) and that he is a popular characters but there are plenty of popular characters yet to be re-released, the dinobots being just one example.
