Bay and USA Today
Didnt see this listed before so here you go. Just sat down to read the USA today and in the Life section they talk about all the summer movies. They mention how the fans are complaining.
Bay's Response "They're gonna (complain) about everything, you know what i'm saying?... "The things that really matter are there".
That seems a little overly critical, most of us arnt complaining about EVERYTHING... and "things that matter" are opinions that someone else might not share.

I don't think we can fault the guy for this. The angriest fans are always the most vocal. Or at least they use the most capital letters when they rant online.

I have no malicious feelings toward Bay for his comments.
He's used to just putting the film together and getting it out there for the audience to see. A generalized audience.
Now, he's being forced like a square peg into a round hole, where he must appease the general audience, and the rabid fanbase as well.
People complain about his movies, but here's the problem. He only directs it, others write it. Got a problem with it? Take it up with them, not him.
He wanted to surprise us with the new TF designs, the overall look, the fact that Peter Cullen was brought back as Optimus Prime, etc. Did he get to do any of that? Nope. We stole all of that from him.
We read his leaked script.
We saw the toy protos and test shots.
We were able to buy some of the toys ahead of schedule.
And so, and so on.
He has every right to be pissed, and if he did sequel(s), I'd be damn surprised. If I was him, I'd run from this like it was a pyrotechnics display, and never look back. I'd keep running even after I got tired of running.
Why? Because we're ungrateful, closeminded, rude, bastards as a whole.

Oh, didn't you hear? Uwe Boll is making BloodRayne 2. It's set in the Wild West.
I'm not kidding.

Uwe Boll has the cajonés to make sequels to things people hate. He's been undeterred by the various fanbases, nothing can stop him. Even Paul WS Anderson and Joel Shumacher knew when NOT to do these things. (Paul didn't direct most of the bad movies under his name, like Mortal Kombat II, or DOA. Joel wised up, stopped making Batman, and made Number 23 instead)
I can't remember exactly where this was going, but if Uwe Boll has the balls to make sequels despite the fact that he's universally hated, then Bay has every right to do TF2. Because some people like Bay.
Armageddon FTW!

I'm not going to say some fans don't complain about what ever franchise gets a movie, But I hold TF in higher regard then Spiderman so I'm not as inclined to complain about Organic web shooters as the next guy but In all honesty I see that franchise treated with tons more respect then this, and thats why I complain. Bays writes it off as haters, hating just for the sake of hating. But I'm intersested in is "the things that really matter" What does that mean to a guy who was wearing a T-shirt saying Big F'n Robots are coming.

We could still see the same amount of respect in the movie, but we won't really know untill it gets here. If it turns out good, I expect the complainers to come out saying "Okay, I was wrong!"

No. Even if it's good, the complainers will pick out any little detail they can find, then amplify it to make it seem like the Worst Thing Ev4r.
Because people these days don't know how to enjoy a brainless action movie.

Not to mention that people hate to accept that they've been clinging to something like a geeky barnacle only to be scraped off the hull of their own disappointment by the great big file of...goodness.

See, thats the problem with our fanbase. You obviously have issues with this movie. I, however, have yet to see any disrespect in its handling. Who is right? Who is wrong?
No more than was shown in the making of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron, anyway.

your right about that. even if this movie is good they will still complain about it because there stuck on there G1 boxy cartoons.

What I don't understand is, if this movie was like the "G1 boxy cartoons", it would be so bad. Can anyone imagine going into a theatre and sitting through MTMTE parts one to three in live action form? I can, and I don't like it.
To be honest, the trailers have not made me want to see this movie. They've almost turned me off. But then I stop being an idiot and remember there's stuff that really appeals to me in this movie. The designs, the transformations, the voicework, etc.
I don't think Transformers will ever make a brilliant movie, no matter how it's done. Partly I feel this way because I think TF fiction works better spread out over a long run, which is why I think comics are the best medium for the story. Even in 2003 I knew this would not be the Greatest Movie Ever Made. That's not to say I wanted it to fail. Does that matter?
I might not re-watch this movie but I'm sure I'll enjoy it in the theatre.

I would love it if they could make an alternate version with boxy transformers just so that the fanatical fans could see just how stupid that would look. I mean it's laughable, this is a major motion picture, to think that they wouldn't update the simplistic cartoon designs for the real world is just crazy. Of course they are going to improve it! Of course they are going to make it more cool and add lots of moving parts, what do you think they are paying ILM for? Otherwise they might as well pull 10 guys off the street and get them to dress up in robot suits and we can see a 100 million dollar version of the power rangers.

I don't care if anyone wants to lump people together cause in some regard he's right Some people hate just to flame or jump on or off a particular Bandwagon. But my problem is with a society that actually congratulates and celebrates something they actively admit as brainless or insipid. Welcome to the Jackass(tm) Generation.

i couldnt of put it better my friend. i think the fact that as people say... these 'critics' as it were will probly end up liking if not...god forbid...enjoying the movie to any extent but will be too afraid because they may lose face after all is said and done. so picking individual tiny faults and making them into the end of the world is covering up anything they felt. and being afraid to apologise. this is not always the case, as Phategod1 said. im looking forward to the film. and even if its not the best thing in the world... its still a f**king TF live action film.
