Hey all, I've searched far and wide for a guide on this but no results have surfaced. I just want to know how to paint wheels. All the guides I've found aren't for wheels.

Is there a specific type of paint I should use?
Any kind of brush?
Time to dry?

If I could paint the wheels on Knock Out, that's the deciding factor for me. Any help would be appreciated :D

I remember someone posting some advice in the "Knock out in hand images" news thread awhile back. Lemme see if I can dig it up. >:oP

Go to your local Games Workshop.

Buy one of their thin paintbrushes, doesn't really matter

Buy the following paints; Averland Sunset and Yriel Yellow

Should be about $20.

Then apply it on Knockout's wheels sparingly in thin layers. Sunset and then Yriel.

To prevent paint from going anywhere else put tape on the tires.

Time to dry should be irrelevant.

What Blurzz said.

I suggest buying a full quiver of brushes though. From super fine to broad. Just for havin. And don't load your brush heavily at all. Once you load it with paint have a piece of paper on hand to do a couple passes on that will unload a wee bit of excess paint so that it won't drop heaps of paint on to the figure. The key is having control.
Especially with detailing like wheel rims. Less is more. You can always add more once you have steadied your hand. To remove the excess paint can be a pain in the arse. If you have too much paint you lose the detail effect your after.
There's a learning curve.

It's worth getting some material to practice on. Go to your local dollar store (Big Lots, etc.) and buy a few cheap toys you can practice painting on, is my suggestion.

Agreed.
There's lots of techniques to learn that are best tested on crap you don't care about that once "perfected" should then be used on your TF. You wanna do it right....right? ;)

You sound like you're selling drugs to him. xD By the way TC, Big Lots tends to carry KO G1 combiner limbs, which make pretty good practice material, if you want to practice on an actual TF mold that won't break your bank. :P

In another word, hobby shop.

Yellow isn't exactly the color easy to cover on black plastic. You may can start with a layer or two of the base coat at white or light gray and then put yellow on.

If I ever get a Knockout, I just plan to use a gold sharpie to color his rims. Or at least that's what I'll try to do.

You could try a gold basecoat, gold applies real nicely on black. I use tamiya gold leaf. Then apply the yellow over it. It should turn out slightly metalic, giving Knockout more bling. ;)
