Binaltech Smokescreen, does the # matter? I have seen 1, 2, 7, and 8

I have seen 4 different versions of BT-01 smokescreen.
Seems like he comes in #s 1, 2, 7, and 8...
Is a certain # more rare/worth more than the others?
Is there any significance to the number?

Smokescreens official original number is 38. I guess they aren't doing that on the Alternators one.

the number 1 is driven by some racer in 2003, the number 2 is driven by another racer in 2004.
