Can we accept Weaving the way we accept the others?

Like, will Weaving gain the legendary status in Transformers History the way Welker, Cullen, Chalk and Kaye have? Or will his movie career make him just a 'Guest Appearance' in the franchise?
Example, do we really think as highly of Nemoy (in JUST his role as Galvatron, not Spok) Judd Nelson, Robert Stack and the others who were in the movie (except perhaps Stack)? I personally don't think of them as grand as I think of the Prime/Megatron characters, though that MAY BE because the others weren't Prime and Megatrons, but.. You see what I'm getting at. Or you don't. Either way, what do you think?

I don't think he will ever be as Iconic as Welker or Kaye for me. I'm not taking anything away from HW but I can remember Welkers Megs from when I was a kid. That was almost 20 years ago. Too soon to tell whether or not HW will have that kind of lasting impression like the others. Ask me that question when I'm 45
And yes, I consider JN Hot Rod and LN Galvatron. Only because I could watch the movie whenever I wanted growing up since it was released to VHS but the tv series wasn't released until DVD. So for me the movie voices for those character will always be who I associate them with. I see what you're saying though.

Maybe if Weaving plays Megatron in a series of Transformers movies then the fandom will grant him that status.
I'm still waiting for Niel Kaplan to get some damned credit

He'll always be Agent Smith to most people. But as long as he doesn't sound like a pansy-ass or anything, I think he'll do just fine. Maybe not stellar, but fine.

I think a decent amount of it is going to depend on how well the character's written, too. Because of the limited amount of screen time Megs has in the movie, Weaving doesn't have a lot of time to make the character his own, so the writing will have to work with it.
On the other hand, I think Vin Diesel had one of the more memorable VO roles in recent memory, in the Iron Giant, and he barely had any lines at all. So, it all depends.
But as far as celebs in roles go, it's about about Scatman Crothers as Jazz and Robert Stack as Ultra Magnus in the movie. Hopefully, when/if more celebs do voices, they'll follow their lead.

Argee. If you want respect you have to earn it. Hugo should stay out of the TF universe and go back to whatever taxpayer funded shite films he does.
Venomous Prime:
As far as Primes go this is my ranking
Cullen
Kaplan
Chalk
I like Neil Kaplan simply because of the real effort he put into voicing Prime for RiD. Chalk I only accept as Primal and not as Prime.

Totally agree.

In my opinion, it hard to compare because
1) the look of character was different
2) the screen time was different
3) I have no idea whether hugo will provide any different sound to this new Megs in film. But while we can hear Frank
as Megs in game and Frank is still good.
According to point 1-2 ,I think Hugo will not be the much iconic as Megs same as Frank,David.
Elita wrote:Hugo should stay out of the TF universe and go back to whatever taxpayer funded shite films he does.
My opinion :It was not Hugo's false to get in to this film if the filmmaker want him to do and just sent him the script for whatever reason, this is the film business.
But I think Bay just managing something wrong on this voice actor state.and I didn't like the way Bay treat to Frank ,
They let Frank take the audition for especialy the role he was also one of the person who taken and made that character "Megatron" came live and iconic, but result from Bay was "Frank's voice is too cartoony for this film"
I think Bay should not even leave Frank did this kind audition like "to less weight Frank's voice actor career" but later ,then given Frank the role in game instead and not even given him any role in film. This was one of my disappointment for Bay's managing.
This was a kind of plainful working for both Frank and Hugo. While can't hear Frank reprise Megs role in film , Where was Hugo did for it? Havn't seen it. No footage, No even the interview provide from Hugo himself for this voice working.
May be Hugo want to leave the project after he signed contract for the role but can't be due to some of agreement that could be the reason why Hugo never appear to give statement for Megatron role in this film.

Its too soon for me to tell. I'd be interested in hearing how Hugo feels about the role. When I learned Leonard Nimoy had a low opinion of being in the animated movie I was crushed. Can't remember if there was anyone else who had that opinion but if Hugo shares the same opinion as Leonard then in my eyes he won't be iconic. Even if he loves the role he won't be as iconic as Frank Welker.

[spoiler]Decepticon talk cybertronian and that should be some of the sound technical voice mixed so how many percentage of Hugo's actual provide his voice base remain in film?

Damn. Ouch.
I am a "Gee Wunner", but I will let Weaving prove himself. The role is his to add too, or his to f*** up. I can't judge him until I have heard him.
And I ALSO find it VERY ODD that Weaving is supposedly VAing megatron, yet he has, to my knowledge, done NO promotion like the others.
Then again, neither has John Voight, and he plays the President.
Also, I give the guy who played Primal credit, he was very good. This coming from someone who loathes all things BW/BM should say something...but his Primal was good...but there will never be a replacement for Cullen and Welker...NEVER.
Oh yeah, no mention of the late great Chris Latta (Starscream)? No love for Chris Latta? What the hell is wrong with you people???
- YouFearGalvatron
Hugo's just there for the 'star power' Since for years, it was mostly hollywood celebs doing voice acting ( many hollywood actors can't voice act out of their asses, in my own opinion ), and this is pretty much no different.....correct me if I'm wrong, but did not Bay and some other guys making the film orginally wanted celeb to do the voices to begin with? I think Cullen was selected ( and rightfully so, mind you ), so the fandom does not totally ostracized the film.

It's all BS as far ss I'm concerned and just another way to get a "name" actor with general audience credabilty in the credits.
Having played the movie video game I can tell you that Welker did a fantastic job. He toned it down just as he said in that interview a few weeks back where the guy said he would have been too over the top for this.

having actually SEEN the movie, yes, I CAN accept Weaving as Megatron.maybe not as iconic as Welker or Kaye did it but he is definitely a good Megatron voice.

Considering Megatron is rumored to "awaken" in the last 1/5 of the film, I think Weaving will be remembered sort of in passing, kinda of like Daniel Riordan is for his role as Megatron. That is, of course, unless they bring him back for the sequels.

But I just didn't think Hugo will be back for the sequels.
He never appear to speak anything about his working in this film until now.
