Classics Devastator is Out Now!

I'll agree with those who are saying hasbro should have released an all new devastator, it could have been great, it could have been REALLY great. As it stands alone the energon construction toys arent that bad, the vehicles look good, the robos are half decent, its a bummer you get 2 doubles in there, that would make sense if the idea was a symmetrical toy but it was just shortcutting. I wish the head had been changed to give a more recognisable face, the devastator gestalt face is pretty poor. The combined mode itself is weaker than the sum of its parts but isnt a complete disaster (nor a complete devastator!). I dont like the claw type hands. The little energon/universe micromaster version is a way cooler toy and is more a devastator than this. i just wonder if this will be fetching $100 next year on ebay or will it end up on clearance as nobody likes it???? overall I dont mind this toy, id get it more for the individual bots.

I know it's disappointing as part of the Classics line, but I didn't get to pick up any E-Constructies other than Steamhammer. So I'm glad to have the chance to get 'em. A Bruticus Maximus redeco would please me as well, yesssss.

I hate it. If they would have replaced the two clones of the other two, I would have buy it, but they didn't so I will stick to my G2 Devestator for Ultimate Destruction.

I'll buy one, maybe two. I don't think it fits in well with the classics line but I don't care. I'm looking forward to finding it.

I'm glad I got my mini-constructs when I did if this does happen.

Constructicons are my faves I think, I have some G2, a complete set of G1, and I dont have any other. So, I might just pick this up if I can find it oniline. BUT, having said that, I think we should as fans, stop buying repaints, with new names and bios. I think as a whole, is an insult to fans, saying your too dumb to notice his is the same figure as last years, but we re named it, have new bio, and new colors, so there, a new character. I'm looking to do scratch builds, just to satisfy my own taste, and pick up those only worth buying. This to me, if your a hard Dev fan, and have nothing, get it, but if you have the orig mold, dont waste your money.

Guys, c'mon..say it with me...we may never get G1 spirit with New Geneeration quality/technology. I will get this one, and extra to bash.

Store exclusives are generally either redecoes or nothing at all. Given the choice, I'll take redecoes.

The main reason I am picking this up is I never got all of the Energon versions.

Just picked one up here off out of a box ready to go on the shelf, I don't care if anyone else doesn't like them, they still look good to me. Everyone should be able to find them by Friday.

I thought the classics had the G1 spirit I love them. I just wish they would of made a new mold for Devastator. The only thing that would of made Classics = to G1 goodness is if they had some metal parts or a decal sheet. SWOON!!! That would of been wonderful.

I have energon ones and both versions suck worse than a 70's horror film. I wish people would stop trying to defend them and trying to find something postive to say about these figures. There was one good combiner in all of energon and that was bruticas maximus all the other just didn't work well. I hope once the movie tie in stuff is over hasbro takes a long hard look at how much money the classics have made and designs a proper set of construticons among other figures that deserve to be redone.

How about, I don't have very many TFs, and I don't have any gestalts, and I'd rather drive to WalMart and spend $30, then go on eBay and spend $100 on the G1, risk getting ripped off, and wait for it to arrive!?
I'd say that's a d*** good defense!

Nope not still not a good defense because you can get rid combiners 29.95 for railracer the japanies version and 60.00 for construction team and combaticon repaints from any number of on-line retailers, Not including e-bay.

I actually held one last night at Wal Mart and after looking and contemplating I passed on him.
I will have to make due with my G1 constructicons.
I will have to make due with my G1 constructicons.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

I'm assuming you are an "original G1" fan here, but...
how come it was okay for 1980s Hasbro to do this but not 2007 Hasbro? Is it the nostalgia? Rose-tinted glasses perhaps? You can't criticise this practice unless you're also going to condemn:
Prowl - Bluestreak - Smokescreen
Trailbreaker - Hoist
Ratchet - Ironhide
Sideswipe - Red Alert
Grapple - Inferno
All the minibot redecos I can't be bothered listing (e.g. Huffer & Pipes)
Rumble - Frenzy
And lots more, but lets not forget the mother of all "Hey, it's the same mould but let's repaint it and sell it as a completely new character!" ideas...
Starscream - Thundercracker - Skywarp - Dirge - Ramjet - Thrust
Unless you can put your hand on your heart and say you just hate all those characters, methinks your argument sinks...
Hasbro - indeed ALL toy manufacturers - have to pay a lot of money for new moulds. Since year dot in the action figure universe, repaints/remoulds have been a cheap way of getting more product out to the marketplace and creating revenue to make new moulds. It happens with Star Wars (Kenner were tight enough to reuse a lot of their Ewok playsets in their Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves line!), happens with all the superhero lines (neon-pink Batman anyone?), the He-Man figures (Faker being a classic example) and it happens with Transformers.
Do you have to like it? Nah. Accept it? Well, it ain't going away...
Perhaps its hard to think of our childhood Transformers (and other toy lines from that era) as business/commercial products, but that's what they are. No Hasbro exec really sat around saying "Hmm. Starscream's a great character. But you know what we need? Five more jets with just as interesting personalities and abilities to join him so fans will love these new characters!"
More likely he said: "We've paid a lot to import these moulds from Takara, so reuse the good ones as much as you possibly can! Here, I'll help - pass the blue paint please."
Of course, if that's what they started life as, then they BECAME more. When I think of Inferno or Grapple, for example, I think of two different characters. That's kudos for the comic/cartoon writers, and my six year old imagination.
But if it was OK then, I see no reason it can't be OK now...
A-hem. Sorry, bit of a rant there and I think I went way off topic. Anyway...

I wished Hasbro would release those Seacons repaints that they were planning for Universe (or Energon I forget which)
over a reapinted version of the Energon Devesator.

Since most everyone else here disrespects others' opinions, then I'll say you're an idiot for doing that.
I ran around all morning from Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart, and I can't find this d*** thing.
Passing on it was just stupid.
