well if you think about it, it could be like the Transformers movie teaser from last year. It isn't part of the main storyline and it's there to get you excited.

after reading a script from latinoreview.com
pretty funny site, also i like the way it is reviewed
http://www.latinoreview.com/scriptreview.php?id=65
Here is the setup: The Drules have invaded Earth and kicked our ass in the ONE DAY WAR. Humanity has gone underground. New York has been decimated and our story opens on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the Drule invasion.
Keith and Lance go to the streets of New York which is now a dark, empty, desolate, rainy urban wasteland.
Also, none of the elements that made Voltron corny are in the script – no Nanny, no Hagar, and especially no **** space mice! In fact, no corniness at all!
VOLTRON is a post apocalyptic movie and a **** awesome one at that too. Just the way it should be because that was the setup of both cartoons. A little bit of ROAD WARRIOR, a little bit INDEPENDENCE DAY, a little bit WAR OF THE WORLDS, a little bit of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, a little bit of THE TERMINATOR, and a little bit of THE MATRIX with some STARGATE thrown in for good measure!
still think its not voltron? if its not did abrams come clean and say "no its not voltron you idiots" i say its voltron and from what you read from IMDB is not really reliable i mean it said dane cook was in transformers. but i guess they mistaken duhmel with dane cook.
ITS VOLTRON!!!!

A couple of this to consider. Voltron was just announced last year and has yet to be picked up. What ever we saw has already started production and will need to finish soon since JJ Abrams will be working on Star Trek.

And just because Wiki says it's a budget of 30 million doesn't mean they can't fake numbers. This looks like it costs more than 30 million.
You hear what you want to hear. To me, it sound perfectly obvious that they're saying, "It's alive, it's huge!"
So I guess keep thinking it's Voltron. It's not. But if it makes you feel better...go ahead.

It's Voltron, alright, but take that with a grain of salt.

I think Asian remakes are the new fad. Mind you, it's horror, and this might not be.
Thin explanation at best, I know, but I offer what I can.

I don't think this is Voltron. At all. Not that I was a huge Voltron fan, nor a huge expert right now, but Voltron recorded on a handycam? C'mon. This looks more like a concept movie.
Plus what others have said: None of the people working on Cloverfield are working on Voltron, and the production timeframe is just too compressed.

In a Galaxy Far Far Awry issue 1: Serial Fiction Sideshow now for sale.
Issue 2: Home Sweet Home Invasion also for sale.
Back issue 3: Technophobia coming soon. And you can help!

Found an article about the trailer. Apparently, TF fans are not the only ones having a hard time accepting the obvious.

Analyzing JJ Abrams’ Cloverfield: Voltron, Godzilla, Lost, Gamera
Posted on Thursday, July 5th, 2007 at 12:32 pm by: Peter Sciretta
Now that the movie trailer for the top secret JJ Abrams produced monster movie (tentatively titled Cloverfield) has been unleashed on the world, a big faction of the internet refuses to believe that it’s just another monster movie. Much of the speculation around the fanboy circles points to either another American Godzilla movie or a big screen live action Voltron film. Before we explore those two theories, let’s take a look at what we supposedly know so far.
JJ Abrams is producing
Long time Abrams collaborator Drew Godard (Lost, Alias, Angel, Buffy) wrote the script
Matt Reeves (The Pallbearer) is attached to direct
The whole film will be shot from the POv of consumer handheld video cameras
The monster or alien is being referred to as a “parasite”
The City is New York City
In the trailer they throw a going away party for a young man going to Japan
There is a Godzillaish roar in the background which sounds a little robotic
At the end it says In Theaters 1.18.2008
The trailer was shot before principal photography
As far as we know, they have not begun principal photography
JJ Abrams Bad Robot production company is making the film for Paramount Pictures
Some people are pushing the Voltron theory based on the idea that at around one minute and twenty seconds into the trailer, one of the kids yells “It’s a Lion!” But the truth of the matter is, he says “ahhh! It’s alive, It’s huge.” There is no “lion” spoken in the trailer.
The Godzilla faction has used this misquote to support a theory that the movie features Monster Zero (King Ghidorah), a Godzilla monster that looks like a lion, comes from space and shoots fire balls. One thing is for sure, it’s not Godzilla himself because “It” comes from the sky and can throw/spit/produce fireballs. And we must all remmber that a 3D Gozilla is currently also in production.
Others have speculated that the movie might be a remake of Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe. Gamera uses a fireball weapon which seems to fit the action shown in the trailer. But Gamera is virtually unknown by the American audience, so what is the point of using/buying his name property?
The screenwriter for Voltron has said the battle takes place in Manhattan, and that the monsters have parasitic qualities which allow them to regenerate themselves by combining with metal debris. Voltron also fought parasite monsters in the series. However, the Voltron rights still belong to Mark Gordon Productions, and involves a crew of producers that are supposedly not involved in Cloverfield. Mark Gordon Productions is also not a production company under Paramount.

http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewto ... =9545&sid= This is the thread that is discussing this..
I have listened and watched this trailer multiple times with headphones on and he does not say "it's a lion"..
They are not going to make a movie as "high profile" movie like Voltron or the Hulk with the perspective of hand held cameras...
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).
