My issue with this figure is that for the actual amount of TF you're getting, the price is way too high.

Man I don't really like MP Sideswipe. They could have made the bot mode look way more g1 cartoonish.
Chest is too flat, the face sculpt doesn't have enough character in it to be sideswipe, his shoulder cannon looks way too big, does he even have a rocket pack like in the cartoon?

But, why should he have the rocket pack when A) he never used it before Optimus borrowed it, B) he never used after Optimus borrowed it, and C) he never ever even had it outside of that one scene where he hands it over to Optimus. Him having a rocket pack was for just one scene of the whole cartoon was a plot device that didn't even prove useful in its one appearance.

Jet pack isn't so bad, the worst travesty is the chest and face sculpt.
But to me, if you are talking MP, then extra pieces are must, and preferably more than just one. Otherwise you are just talking voyager Sideswipe, not MP.
I saw they had the chisel hands, which is kind of cool I guess, but the jetpack is way more memorable from the show.

He's got a rifle, a shoulder cannon, two piledrivers, and two jackhammers (Amazon Japan exclusive). That's six accessories.warzon3 wrote:Jet pack isn't so bad, the worst travesty is the chest and face sculpt.

Rifle and shoulder cannon should be a given...not an extra.
Pretty sure piledriver and jackhammer is one and the same?
When you look at Rodimus, Grimlock, or Megatron on accessories....no comparison.

They count as accessories due to their being detachable. Just like how Optimus' gun counts as an accessory.warzon3 wrote:Rifle and shoulder cannon should be a given...not an extra.
Piledriverswarzon3 wrote:Pretty sure piledriver and jackhammer is one and the same?

Jackhammers

Rodimus has six accessories (same amount as Lambor): Trailer/base, two guns, buzzsaw, welding torch, Matrix.warzon3 wrote:When you look at Rodimus, Grimlock, or Megatron on accessories....no comparison.
Megatron has five (one less than Lambor): Fusion cannon, energon mace, dagger, pistol, Kremzeek
Grimlock only has a bunch due all the tiny waiter glasses he has. If you count all those as a single set of glasses (meaning as one accessory), then he has seven (only one more than Lambor): sword, gun, apron, bowtie, waiter tray, set of glasses, brain helmet

That's exactly the kind of accessories the other MP's have. Optimus and Megatron only used their energon axe and mace once. Megatron only used the gun and beam sword once during the movie. I think the jetpack would be a great accessory especially if it's compatible with MP-10.

But Sideswipe didn't even use it. Nor did it even prove successful by the one time it was used (by Optimus).Evil_the_Nub wrote:Sabrblade wrote:No.warzon3 wrote:does he even have a rocket pack like in the cartoon?

All those other one-time accessories were both used and used well by their respective wielders. Sideswipe's rocket pack, however, never got such treatment.

Do you mean Soundwave or Sideswipe? If you look closely at the pictures, you can see that the transformations are more intricate than they look at first glance.

I vaguely recall the jetpack mixup stemmed from the G1 bios of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe getting mixed up when the G1 cartoon was made. Can anyone fill in the gaps?

I think for Sideswipe, what he comes with is enough. The jetpack would've been nice, but what he's got is good for me.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

The more I see him, the more I worry he won't have rubber tires. I know is seems like a small thing, but for me, it's an MP must. Of course, I'll end up getting him anyway.

Really? You may be right, but I've still got all my childhood G1s, and the rubber tires have held up perfectly on all of the ones that had them. The rest of their bodies, maybe not so much, but I've never seen any degradation in the tires.

I'd like my MPs to last more than a decade or two, and rubber tires make TFs a one-way ticket to the trash bin. That's what made RiD Optimus & Magnus so crappy. Because of the chrome chipping everywhere and every single tire split(in different places if you glued them already), most didn't even last a decade. I wish for a better fate for the MP line than that.
