Decals

Postby Uniprimus » Sat Sep 01, 2007 11:00 pm

I don't know if I am going to regret this, but I was looking at some cartoon and comic Soundwave pictures. I notcied that much of the decals on the toy aren't in the toons or comics. So, I took off the ones that weren't, and I think it looks better. I may do this when My Encore Prime and Megs arive.

Does anyone else do this?

Motto: ""Not good enough for G1!""
I don't think that's odd at all! I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting your figures to look a bit more 'show accurate'! Heck, if you feel so inclined, check out these links to Reprolabels below:
This one is for the straight-up Soundwave sticker sheet:
http://reprolabels.com/Decepticons/soundwave.asp

While these ones are seperate 'upgrade sheets' for various Transformers (these three contain extra stickers for Soundwave as well, to give him a bit of show accuracy):

I have a friend who just picked up the reissued Soundwave, and he left stickers off of the figure for the same reason you removed them... so he'd look more like the animated character!

The stickers are a residue of 80's "future technology"
A lot of gold, blinking lights and arrows.. well.. as far as that's properly expressed on stickers that is.
You see the toys that arrive nowadays lack those shiny decals and they fare very well without it.

So I say, go without the stickers, you know they make your toy look ridiculous in the first place. They were only there to add detail that could not be done or was too expensive after all.

Well, here are the ones I plan on removing:

Would this be show/comic accurate?

Agreed.. he does not really need it.. though I would probably leave the "recorder" functional stickers on, like play/record etc.

As a kid, I loved putting on all the stickers correctly! However, once I had them all on, I peeled off the ones that I didn't like, so I got all the fun out of putting them on and the satisfaction of having a show-accurate toy.
Even though toys have advanced beyond them, I do miss that do-it-yourself quality of sticker sheets...
