bb was empty driving into the used car dealership.

If they include the Dinobots in the next film, I could definitely see them using a holograhic 'skin' similar to the drivers...
And Grimlock's responce to how this actually disguises him...

The comics had holo-drivers!
Perhaps they didnt give the autobots holo drivers because they didnt want people to equate human faces to the autobot heroes who were gona be around awhile.

Though a Peter Cullen one would have worked...

Yes.
I'm almost 98% sure they used holographic drivers in G1. I'll have to check my DVD collection to be sure, but I remember a situation where Sam jumps into one of them and sees the driver disappear and is then explained why the Autobots use them to blend in.
Maybe it was a different series, but i'm almost positive it happened in G1.
Huzah for first post!
In the second episode, MTMTE Part 2, Hound transforms into a jeep, then uses his holographic projector to create a hologram of a driver. Spike asks "Who's he?"
Hound responds, "Nobody, Spike, he doesn't really exist. He's a hologram."
There was an issue of the original Marvel series that the Autobots use mechanical human facsimiles to impersonate drivers which poped up from their seats.
So in essense, it was the opposite. The Autobots wanted to blend in, the Decepticons couldn't have cared less if the humans seen them without drivers.
The idea isn't without previous sources.lol yous aid it, that would be classic, kinda like how they put kirby in all thoise random roles on marvel films
Ummmm, that's Stan Lee. Jack Kirby has been dead for quite some time now.
Or the hologram the Hound used to trick Devastator at Autobot HQ.

Came by this during a Google search for exactly the same question.
He's Air Force Maj. Brian Reece. Just a random officer who happened to be on base while they were filming the Qatar scene. Bay liked his 'piercing stare', so they glued a fake moustache on him, and voila, Deceptistache, or 'Mustache Man', as he's apparently credited.
Lucky guy. Seems like a nice chap, too.
