Shockblast, definitely. Movie Shocks has ribs n stuff. Looks like he's wearing a dinosaur carcas. Which is actually kinda G1-Comic if you think about it.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

Definitely the Energon mold. It's the closest thing to the original we've ever gotten. Back when Hasbro was taking their sweet time releasing Shockblast, I had purchased a Takara Laserwave because I was tired of waiting. Later, I also came upon a Hasbro Shockblast as well. So now Laserwave serves as my Generations Shocky.

Energon Shockblast for sure. No doubt about it.
However, my alternate choice would be Alternators Shockblast, but I guess that goes against the title. Exclude G1.

Well, I'm no Fan of Bayformers but I don't flat out hate Shockwave like I do most of the others - he would have been a cool loking robot in any other context but the Energon version wins hands down - even with the crappy oversized canon arm.
Hastak wouldn't have to tweak much on that mold to make it pretty damn close to the G1 Shocks we all want.

I bought 2 and swapped arms. Now he has two matching arms but only arm cannon thing. True its not G1 accurate but its a lot better than that massive gun he used to have to drag around. Of course this also means I have another Shockwave with two massive arms but he spends most of his time in a strange 4 legged mode ( when he is on display ).

I like both a lot. If you're looking for one to display along your classics/generations figures, I'd go with Shockblast, although DOTM Shockwave is a nice alternative that is cheaper and easier to find.
I still can't believe we don't have a Generations Shockwave by now, especially considering we've already seen Octane (as Tankor), Skullgrin and a couple of comic characters.

Energon no question! Yeah I did get DOTM Shocker and he's okay but Energon is the better rep for G1 Shocker and his cannon is on the correct arm. The only killer as stated before is that Energon Shocker's cannon is a bit top heavy...'nuff said!
PS...can anyone comment if there may still be a possible Shockwave Cybertronian from the game or is that off the drawing boards?

1,000 times this. DotM is nice and all but doesn't really fit with anything but the movie lines. I do not own the Energon Shockblast so my Alternator fills in the gap quite nicely.

While I'll admit it looks great, I refuse to support anything Frenzy Rumble related. I've had too many negative experiences with him to the point where he doesn't take constructive criticism very well. Or at all for that matter.

Okay, barring G1 or Alternators, I go with Energon Shockblast. Seriously, recolor him, remold the arms and I think you'd have a good Classics Shocker.
Or shrink down the G1 mold, add some shoulder joints and a way to hook the barrel onto the arms.

Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

That custom job is absolutely awe-inspiring! This is what Hasbro woulda coulda done in simply retooling the existing mold for Generations. Why is it that only the fans can produce such works of art? I know,I know, the bottom line always gets in the way.
If that guy was producing those to sell I would definitely buy one. I havent invested in any third party stuff to date, but this one would push me over that edge!

Hmm, I was always wondering what I should do with his original leftover right arm weapon. But that weapon looks ugly....
You could do away with the battery compartment...

That one gave me more headaches about what to do with it. It is currently just sitting on top of Dropshot's leftover to be like a Decepticon laser tank.

Seems doubtless that Shockblast takes the role undisputed in this case, and I have nothing to say to the contrary.
Still I hope they get around to a classics/generations/WFC/ect. version of him soon.
