Exclusive Box sets, or Individual packaged toys? (Your Preference?)

So, fellow collectors. Which do you prefer when collecting bots from a toyline? Usually, I'm all about box/gift sets when it comes to gestaults and nothing else. But for some reason, the exclusive box sets (1st Encounter, Desert Attack, Sam's club, etc.) appealed to me in the movie toyline. I keep the exclusive box sets MISB, while opening up doubles I buy that are individually packaged.

What about you guys? What is your take on these boxes? Or your general preference? Do you love/hate em? Do you like to open those instead of the normal packaged ones or keep them MISB?

My main beef with them is that almost always they're already in robot mode. I like to work my way from alt mode, to robot mode as the end result feels more rewarding.

To me I'd just open em. Nothing beats seeing the look on a a kids face specially your kids or grandkids when you pass down some of your TFs down to them and they love it. But thats how I see TFs.

I feel the same, I try and avoid boxsets with "action poses" worked right into the packaging. It just takes away from the sense of discovery and accomplishment when you see the bot mode of a new fig for the first time.

I think generally, this kind of packaging is engineered towards kids and parents, you see exactly what you are getting right from the start.

I don't keep packages, so it really doesn't matter to me.

Free them from those plastic and carboard prisions.
