I recently purchased a G1 set of Superion. Loos as in without a box but nearly near mint. I was surprised that it was diecast though. The limbs and arms had a couple of paint chips. Being a 1985 model, I was surprised as to its quality (the chrome was nearly brand new.........no fading)
What I want to know is that , is this version a rare one? Like the G1 Predaking diecast version?

lol
I went cheap and cheerful and bought a KO set for £6.99 off of ebay. Only things missing were the four scout weapons, which I don't entirely mind cos I display him as Superion most of the time. And I nicked his hands for Classics Superion. Painted black/grey, Energon Skyblast's gun his perfect for Superion's gun.
As to the diecast thing, I don't know. Maybe it's a Takara release?

The 1985 versions of the combiners had some degree of diecast on them, mainly on the chests. That phased out in the years after it though.

Yes, I never had the Aerialbots, but the Stunticons that I have also had die-cast for the chest plates. I assume it's the same for the Aerialbots.

The 85 and early 86 Combiners had Diecast versions. Superion, Menasor, Bruticus, Defensor, and Predaking all had diecast versions. The hardest to find in my experience are the Defensor limbs. Especially First Aid. The Predaking Diecast figures are actually eaiser to find then some of the others. jsut more expensive, though that changed a bit when the reissue came out.
Computron and Abonimus were released without any Diecast, same thing with Piranacon.

Speaking of which, in Seibertron's pics, have he same problem with Slingshot, the paint apps on his nose gets chipped off easily.

Defensor-wise, I think the only one I had with die-cast was Groove. I'm almost 100% positive that the rest of group didn't; but that's just my set of Protectobots.

Same here, it appears all Grooves came with metallic chest and arms.
