HeavyMetal Devastator 85% complete (22/06/07)
I have done a research on a number of custom Devastator and a few fantic arts of Devastator as well... I notice the colors of the thighs are kinda different. by different artist... Mostly purple, some silver some black, some based on G1 toon homage - green...
Just wondering which is the most accurate color? or which of these colors would look better... Any suggestions?

On my Devastator which you may have seen, I made his thighs green because I try to make my customs more like the toon.
I agree with Tramp, green, silver, or violet will work. My choice would be green, but that can look really bland depending on how you build your custom.

Another alternative would be black. Not that I'm actually recommending it, but the Action Master version had black thighs.
Personally, I'm voting for the violet of the G1 toy; he often had green thighs in the 'toon, but I think that'd be far too much of one colour.

i resently started looking around for numerous construction transformers.. of the larger size... mudflap , quick mix , demolishor , scavenger. need 2 more for the rest of the bots... want to mess with em all and make me a custom devs.... but im stuck with the other two bots.. minus getting a few scavengers and modding them...

Not necessarily. It all depends on the relative size of the vehicle modes, not robot modes; and, more importantly, their limb modes. Even if Landmine is shorter than Quickmix in robot mode, if their vehicle and limb forms (which is based on their vehicle forms) are of comparable length, it should still work.

I always thought that Dev's Theighs should match in color to Long Haul's legs thus Green with a Silver stripe down the middle.

Very simple. Bonecrusher has caterpillar treads while Scrapper has wheels. That is the main difference between the two. And, actually, Bonecrusher is a bulldozer, not a payloader, as is Armada Scavenger

Bulldozers have treads (do to size, weight, and the terrain they are designed to drive on) as well as a Dozer blade designed to scrap the top layer of earth up into the blade to be pushed forward. Front End Loaders have wheels and a bucket capable of scooping and lifting.
C-Landmine is a Front End Loader/Payloader, as are the two limb bots from Constructicon Maximus, G1 Scoop, and G1 Scrapper.
A-Scavenger is a Bulldozer, as was G1 Bonecrusher. Not a whole lot of Bulldozer bots for some reason.

The reason, I would say, why you don’t find alot of bulldozer bots is pretty simple— the caterpillar treads. They aren’t easy to incorporate into a transformation without breaking them, and wheeled vehicles are just easier to work with in general. This is why most of the bots that do have cat treads are tank-bots. In fact, I think there have only been five construction bots who have caterpillar treads: G1 Scavenger, G1 Bonecrusher, Armada Scavenger, Armada Hoist, and Cybertron Longarm. All the other costruction bots ever created have been wheeled vehicles. In fact, If I recall correctly, there aren’t that many construction vehicles built that use caterpillar treads to begin with. Most use wheels. Armada Scavenger is the first Transformer I ever saw, with caterpillar treads, that didn’t have to break the treads during transformation. Whoever designed him came up with a very ingenious solution even though it limits his arm articulation.

Gawd, based upon the image BasherDrake posted of the Devastator built by Primusq001, your best bet for the last two bots is using Cybertron Landmine for Scrapper, and Cybertron Longarm for Scavenger, but use Scrapper as an arm instead of as a leg, use Bonecrusher as the leg. This takes care of the size problems completely. The only thing I don’t like about the version built by Primusq001 is the thighs. They are just too big; disproportionately so. The forearms could use some work too.

i agree... the thighs are too big.. but as he said about his.. the thighs become some kind of trailer.. but i can careless if mine do that.. and im not all about how his lower arms look.. really spindly.. its like you put a midgets arms on a 7' tall person.
