Ohhhhhhhhhhhh.... wow....
Words can only fail to express..
Hehe. What are you using for joints? Are they molded into the parts themselves?
Yeah, could I order it unassembled?
I presume the black here is just test shot colors.
He had smokestacks? Guess the rest of us customizers (and would-be customizers) have something to do now besides assembly? ^_^

They are all molded in the parts as designed. It's hard to design something when you have to consider limitations from other foreign parts.

Of course, and that's the prefered way. I'll have the instructions done properly and the parts are pretty easy to fix up, just alot of them.

Well I'm gonna do a black version too. I reckoned trains in black are definitely better than red, blu, yello and grey.. but yeah, the black in the pics is only for the proto. I needed to give the parts a gloss coat and I happen to have black.

I'm saving my pennies as we speak.
OH and as far as suggestions. I picked up the HOS TP the other night. Reason I picked it up is that it had the concept sketches for Ratchet and Prowel in the back. I hadn't seen those before and was pretty impressed. Those would be nice to have so that in the end you can have the entire train team complete.

Damn I wanted to pick up the TPB as well. If only I have the time to...
Will be starting to mak the molds tomorrow after the paint dries up for the rest of the parts. Think this is gonna take another 3-4 days.

For those who haven't tracked this in the thread on TFW, griffith76 posted a bunch of pics last week:

Last I heard he was working on getting the kits cast. He said he was having some issues with bubbles in the molds. I know I'm on the list and have the $$$ set aside for one. Gonna run $287 with shipping. $250 for Prime and Trailer and $37 for the shipping. He said he would assemble him for an extra fee of like $30 I think. I told him I'de handle that myself, as long as he comes with instructions.
Now I just gotta decide wich color scheme to go with!
I'll probably shoot him an Email next week and see what he says.

Wonder how hard it would be to add a hinge at the bottom of the chest so it could open for a matrix?
Love it, want to buy it, though do think a darker shade of red and blue would look better. Considering he pulled this all off from the limited concept sketches that were in the back of the comic makes it even more impressive to me. Like Lobo's Megatron last year.

he cant' get it a darker shade without weakening the materials. he said so. you'll have to paint it, and honestly, he only colored them so that after you paint them, if you accidentilly chip your paint, it won't show much if at all thanks to the underlying color.

Has he said when they will be available for purchase?

Ah, I hadn't seen that, but it makes sense, the more dye you the weaker the more diluted the resin mix would end up I suppose. Based on the price and the complexity of him I'd probably just add a black wash and then some dry brushing to him. Resin tends to act funny with Kyrlon, and I'd hate to try and hand paint him with acrylic, I really need to get an air brush one of these days.

It really depends on the mix of the paint and the resin. I've seen a resin part actually melt under spray paint before. Doubt that would happen with this since Griffith seems to be going for a very high quality product, but past mistakes leave me leery, esepcially when dealing with a high price item like this guy.
Really not sure if I'll even be able to get him though, my budget has gotten much tighter lately, so I have to cut back on spending a good bit for the next few months.
