Just an idea, maybe at the the end of Dark Cybertron, Bumblebee, Shockwave, and some if the other dying Transformers got sucked back in time and became the Hearts of Steel Transformers that the Revolutionaries Team is going to find in Revolutionaries issue #4-5?

Or, or, here's an idea - characters who died dramatic and significant deaths stay dead and we only see them in flashbacks and the like.

If only it truly worked that way in comics. Not even Bucky and Jason Todd could stay dead forever.

Call me bias but I thought Bumblebee's IDW characterization differentiates from anything we've ever gotten from the character. When the Autobots elected him leader back on Earth, he no doubt was a bit naïve and inexperienced to be taking on such a role. But as time progressed, you can clearly see him becoming more confident and refined in his leadership-ability. No longer conscious on what people sought him as to being, because in his mind he had a job to his people.
He committed himself as best he could, even despite obstructions like Starscream's deceitful cunning or Metalhawk's rancor; even if his best wasn't adequate. This particularly showed during Dark Cybertron, it was 'his battlefield' (as he called it) and didn't plan on being patronized by anyone; not anymore. He was trying to bring forth the unified and ideal Cybertron, because 'Bee believed better. Prowl saw this. Wheeljack saw this. King Bee did good.
We're all entitled to our own opinions, I understand that. But I'd really like to see him make a return. It's been long enough. Even if he doesn't maintain the pivotal role he's been acclaimed to having, I'd just like to see the little yellow back and at 'em!

I dunno. I can see Hasbro wanting Bumblebee back for very obvious reasons - though honestly, they're doing something with Starscream hallucinating about him so it's still not necessary - but Shockwave? He's a significant character in the Transformers mythos for sure, no doubt about that; but he's not nearly as big a name as Bumblebee or Megatron or even Soundwave. I can't see Hasbro demanding he be resurrected.
Also, the direct comparisons with Marvel and DC really aren't fair just because 'they're comics'. Those are comics that have run for well over half a century with many different writers coming in left and right... compared to a comic that has had just over a decade of publishing and of which over half of that has consistently been done by the same general creative team and writers. And it's that exact creative team that has made all these significant changes (All Hail Megatron changing the original status quo of the continuity notwithstanding). It makes sense that somewhere in DC and Marvel's extremely long runs someone up top would demand a character be brought back from the dead to boost sales. IDW doesn't have that necessity, especially when both characters only died 4 years ago and continue to get appearances in flashbacks and other ways. They really don't have any reason to bring them back, especially when all the books right now are run by a creative vision rather than editorial mandates to boost sales for a couple months. If you really want to make a proper comparison you have to properly examine the history, policies and people behind each company and, indeed, each comic. Lumping everyone together no matter their company, policies or time period just because they're in the same history just leads to vast and ridiculous accusations and assumptions.
It's the same kind of thinking that says Megatron will definitely become Decepticon leader again - it's most certainly possible especially with Hasbro breathing downo their backs, and I have no doubt that if a new creative team comes in that possibility will increase exponentially; but the comics and creative teams as they currently are are nowhere near as cynical and money-grabbing as most other Transformers fiction or even the big two comic companies. This isn't the same comic that brought us Hydra Captain America for a few months before reversing it and saying it was hypnotism or brainwashing or something else, I can't remember because it was so contrived and unnecessary and it was so obvious it wasn't a change that was going to stick. The people behind these comics are very clearly adamant and passionate in making sure these changes stay in place and running with their far-reaching consequences, and so I'll decide to keep my trust in them not resorting to obvious, reverting-back-to-the-old-status-quo changes.
Also apologies for my original post, the tone I employed there was a bit too snarky and smug.

Bumblebee will likely be back. He is a big name for the brand. Shockwave on the other hand is likely going to remain dead.

I think bringing bee back would take away the interesting aspect of the "ghost" in Starscream's head... I don't want him back, but I could see it happening. but if they choose to do it, I hope its in a well thought out way. I mean it was his death that drove Megatron to reconsider his ways. That is no small potatoes, and removing htat might remove that sort of drive.

Not necessarily. It was Megatron's initial drive, but as MTMTE went on he found other reasons that made him regret his actions even more. If Bumblebee comes back it likely wouldn't change anything for him in regards to his decision.

Fair point, he did find other reasons.
