how old can TF fans be??
of course each year TF fans get 1 year older but i wonder how many TF collectors out there were old enough to not even know about TF in G1 (because they were past toys at that point) but still saw what thay liked later and got into the lines?
i was a teenager at the inception of G1 and loved the designs, the oldest toy fan i know who get the occasional TF is 44.
i guess the tail end of the Tf fan bell curve flattens sharply at the mid 30's but just how old is the oldest tf fan at present??

i'm 28. my dad likes tf's.. he's a fan, watches the cartoons but doesn't collect toys. he's 56. i'm sure others have folks who like scifi type stuff too, including tf's.. so who's got the oldest fan parents?

I have met someone who is pushing 50 he started with The Super robots from japan When he was stationed over seas in the early 70"s went then to Microman/Micronauts to Diaclone Tf in the 80'S so it is possible there could be older fans as Gigantor was from the 60's

yes, interstingly any fans of the takara sci fi stuff could easily be persuaded by TF, one of the earliest takara sci fi lines was henshin cyborg which did evolve into TF animation! via microman/diaclone>TF G1.
most henshin fans are japanese or even from the UK (as the UK got some versions of the henshin toys in the 70's) but that gives a chunk of possible fans 'only' in their early 40's. funnily enough its my older circle of toy fans who like animated over any of the recent general distribution toys (they are also general takara fans)

I myself am 31 about to turn 32. I Have been a fan of Transfomers since G1. Seems I have also always collected the toys in one form or another almost consistently since G1 as well. I can foresee being a fan and collector untiI die however old I might be.

I'm 24 and I don't really know any TF collectors around me. I've seen what looks like TF collectors but they are in their mid twenties as well.
Age doesn't matter in my opinion.

Wow don't I feel young compared to you guys, I'm only 21
I started off with Beast Wars when I was about 9 or 10 just because I loved the show(and still do). Then I started collecting again and watching G1 after the movie came out.

Well, I at least am proof that you can have older TF fans even without the nostalgia/growing up with it factor. I'm going to be 28 in March, and I think I somehow missed out on Transformers completely when I was younger (very weird, considering I watched almost every other cartoon in the 80s, and loved the robot-related ones as much as the others).
But after listening to the goading of one of my friends who *is* a long-time fan, I caved in and watched the recent movie, which got me intrigued. Then I watched all the G1 episodes, which got me hooked. And now I'm working on watching Beast Wars and reading the comics, and it's all good.
I don't really collect the toys, though... I just buy the figures of my favorite characters. So far I only have the few that I've been able to find without paying through the nose. Hopefully the upcoming Animated and Classics lines will help me grow my little stash.

Age has nothing to do with it. Except maybe when I'm 90 and arthritic and can't transform or pose them. Maybe if I ever decide to have kids I'll stop collecting, but until then, I'm committed.
BTW I'm 33.

Phew!... I dont feel so old myself anymore now either. Im 28, I'm old school G1(as if you couldnt tell). What all these kids today are doing watching TF Animated, I was doing the same thing watching G1 everday after school; Brand new episodes and all. It's good to know I have peers on here my age. I was wondering who all you mysterious peeps were and how old some of you might be. And I just will say it is fascinating to see all the generations take on to the Transformers they way they do. I mean Who knew what I was watching as kid would become this today. Even though I did watch other TF extensions, Beast Wars, Armada ect. It was never like it was durring G1. Makes me feel a little old but yet like Pioneer, One of the first ones to ride the wave. I dont think I'll ever stop!

Re: how old can TF fans be??
28 is old some of you say ? LOL
I'll be 39 March 6th and have been a fan since the very beginning of G1, it was one of the few positive experiences in my younger life because I grew up in a very abusive house.
I only had a handful at best of the figures back then mostly the seeker jets and a few constructicons, the stores were always empty!
I've been collecting them for a little more than four years and my goal is to collect nothing less than a complete G1 line of figures plus whatever else I collect along the way.

Old is when the doctor who performs knee surgery on you like I had last May tells you when you wake up that "I noticed the onset of arthritis in your knee joint which will complicate your recovery"

Anywho, if you're just getting into something like TF at 28 it's no biggie.

Well, I know I'm not old in the general sense. Unlike some young folk, I don't think life ends at 30. In fact, I'm still waiting for my life to get started.

I will be turning 38 in June, and I have been a fan since Day One....and I do not see that changing anytime soon! It is just one the greatest things created, at least to me
I also have friends in their mid and late 40's who love TF as well, so I am not the oldest!

HA! I get to call Pyro "old lady" from now on!
I'm 31, started with G1 when it first came out. Spent years collecting the comics until they stopped and then my interest died.
Caught some "crap" on tv one day called "Beast Wars" and thought it was an insult the TF's I grew up with and promptly ignored it.
Few years back I went through what I could call a "dark time" in my life with depression, found E-Bay and ended up searching for Transformers. I put it down to me wanting to find something that made me happy and TF's made me happy. Next thing I know incomplete Rodimus Prime and Grimlock turned up and it snowballed from there.
Found out about subsequent series. Turns out Beast Wars wasn't crap and I had a ball collecting the figures because i'd pick up junker lots and have fun working out whose arm belong to who.
And ever since I haven't really stopped. I became a completionist of sorts (only for the toys, don't care about non-toy stuff) before I realised how lame repaints are so now i'm more of a mold completist. I want at least one of each mold from the movie line onwards.
Still want to complete my G1, BW and BM collections (including repaints and i'm pretty close to doing that.
