Hey guys
I recently took out some figures I hadn't played with for a while, such as Drift with his double swords and a few others including my MOTU figures. They all have their swords somewhat bent. Since I intend to display some of them, this won't do.
Can anyone give advice how to fix it? I've read of a suggestion to use heat and then straighten them out. Exactly how does this work? What heat to use? Would that destroy the paint job on the weapons?
Thanks!

Run hot water from the tap over them until the parts are warm and while they parts are warm dry them real quick and put a heavy book on top of them.

Wow that was fast lol! Thanks!
How hot should the water be and will it damage the material of the plastic or the paint work?

Hmmm now THAT'S a thought! It certainly would give the heat without the contact... thanks!
Has anyone here actually had to straighten out swords? Lol

I've straitened out all kinds of plastic/resin swords and blades with hot water.
Personally I wouldn't use a hair dryer. The temperature of the water is a lot easier to control, and is more even than a blast of hot air.
Besides, the water would have to be VERY hot to damage unpainted plastics.

What about painted plastics? Can't think of any Transformers right now, but an easy example I can think of is my 200x MOTU figures, some weapons such as Merman's sculpted and beautifully painted by the Four Horsemen?

The biggest problem with the plastic they make the swords out is it bends under it's own weight. So even after you straighten them they'll just get bent again.
