I wonder why hasbro is releasing just combiner leaders?
In universe/classic 2.0 or whatever you want to call it hasbro has two of the season two combiner leaders all ready to release in the forms of Onslaught and Silverbolt. Now here is my question why release them as non combiners and with light and sound. Who is up next on parade of season two combiner leaders ultra class Motormaster with really engine sounds (which sound like a electronic fart) or maybe Ultra class hotspot with real flashing lights and sound (which like rid optimus prime are enuff to drive you nuts). So what do you on the boards think of trend of taking just the leader of the combaticons and arielbots removing the rest of the team.

Hoping for Hotspot, he was the most badass combiner leader of them all.

Maybe it is a case of good forward planning on Hasbro's part - after all, they know that once collectors get 1 part of a set then the majority of them (myself included) have to finish said set by purchasing all the others. So perhaps we'll see the other team members in later waves.

I HOPE that they will later release deluxe size combiner limbs. Then we would have some awesome supreme class combiners.

Re: I wonder why hasbro is releasing just combiner leaders?
I'm hoping they will combine. Going by pictures we've seen, it looks to me that Onslaught may at least have combination potential. The big shield seems the right size to double as body armor for Bruticus.
If they don't do at least one full on combiner, Fuk Hasbro. I don't care if people will think that's being harsh or petty. Maybe others are prepared to settle for just another bunch of non combining stand alone deluxes and ultras, but that's not enough for this cat. Not this time.
I think they're aware of the demand, and I can't believe they'd be stupid enough to ignore it. I think they will do it and it'll be awesome.
That's a big red button of awesome just staring them in the face, waiting to be hit... It's so obvious.

I don't think any of these figures will have future combiner parts.
I just think Hasbro uses the leader names because we as collector's recognize those names as powerful characters. We all know Motormaster is more powerful than Dead End or Wildrider, for example.

I'm not bother by the lack of combinerism. I got enough of that from past lines.
I want to see some real development of the team leaders. I really want a Hotspot and Motormaster. Those two are far more awesome than Onslaught and Silverbolt.

You would still want Motormaster even if he had really engine sounds that sound like an electronic fart noise. Since it seems that all ultra class figures in this new line will have electronic lights or sound of some sort.

I'd pay hundreds to own a Motormaster that delivers electronic farts. (Particularly since I think it suits him.)

I share everyone's desire for a new gestalt, but I think what's preventing it is the complexity it would require today. In the 80's, all combiners were samey, inarticulate bricks that were easy to conceive and piece together. But if you have a gestalt made of one Ultra and four Deluxe figures, the difficulty of designing five distinct toys, each with their own transformation and still retain decent articulation in their robot mode and their combined form would be enormous. So yeah, I'm sorry there are no plans for a new gestalt yet, but I don't think we can fault Hasbro for lack of trying.

Thank you for the words of wisdom Glitcher how much you would pay for a electronic farting Motormaster. Have to agree with you now that I look at the last modern atempt at a functioning gestalt the energon combiners which had there good points but it was mostly all bad.

Well, Hot Spot would be easy.
RID Prime repainted as I have hoped for since I saw the plans way back when (2-3 years ago were when the first concepts were leaked).
A combiner would be fabulous though. Predaking, Abominus, or Computron would be among my hopes...of course, a fresh Defensor is always welcome!

I don't think they will, mostly because it's still just a filler line.

Both, but I was originally talking about the combiners. Defensor was ment to be a Botcon exclusive once apon a time. But like others before and after him, they will sit in the hall of fame in the Hasbro head office.
As for Combiners... the Universe line won't be big enough to support full Gestalt teams. I hate to say it, but it's only a filler line. We'll get some lovable faces in awsome new bodies, but I'm afraid I'm not too optimistic about seeing a wicked cool (and better then Energon) Superion.

Re: I wonder why hasbro is releasing just combiner leaders?
Down_shift your wrong about this being a filler line hasbro has as much as said this is intended to be a full fledge line taking the place of alternators and a couple of other lines I can't remember the name of the other two lines. Since the only other two transformers lines that will be running for awhile is the animated line and the movie line when there is a new movie ever couple of years. But this is now there primary line along with the animated line of toys. So why isn't there a chance that they will create a Gestalt team hasbro has talked about it time and time again that there will be a New Gestalt team either in the universe line or Animated line.

A Gestalt combiner team in the Animated line would be pretty cool. I wouldn't mind seeing a Defensor in that line, because the Autobots are all set up like rescue vehicles, so it would be fitting. I think a Predaking is in order for the Universe line......

While I do agree with you that it is a full run line much like Alternators, they will be few and far between like Alternators. We won't see commercials or even contests on tv stations for them. The focus will be on Animated (which Hasbro has confirmed will get the Gestalt). We also already know that Onslaught doesn't have any combiner ports.
Mind you, I'm wanting a Gestalt as much as the next guy. If they made an Ultra Team Leader with four Deluxe Team Members that would one sick Combiner. Any of the Gestalts would like increadably awsome updated.

I dunno, it seems to me that they have a lot of plates spinning at once. Animated is going to be a big line, and the movie sequel is out summer 2009. If there's one line that winds up getting squeezed, it'll probably be the one without the extra promotional push of a hit movie or tv show.
I'd happily swap Crossover stuff and no-screen-appearance movie transformers for extra Universe figures. Maybe if they don't needlessly drag out the other lines, we can get a decent run out of Universe.

Hootnanny, I wish they'd release that RID Prime/Defensor/Hot Spot whatever you want to call him. I call him awesome, and have been hoping for that to come out for years. Universe being a line containing some repaints, maybe we just might finally get him.....
Not to sound purposefully negative here, but am I alone in thinking that, while awesome to the max, a Supreme torso with four Deluxe limbs might be horribly unstable?

There's the truth for certain. If we didn't get ten movie Deluxe All Spark power repaints and Premium series crap and just started rolling out the new merch, we could get much more and vastly superior mileage out of Universe. Although, the previous Universe line did last a couple of years and was only repaints, so maybe a Universe line that includes new molds like the Classics 2.0s could weather the marketing storm. Here's to hoping at least...

I think that a combiner in the Universe world would rock. The problem is the profit game. They have made so much money off of the movie line, especially the off-screen transformers and the all spark ones and the premium ones. Ugh. Repaint after repaint after repaint. They will keep striking where the iron is hot and throw a bone to collectors and old farts (not electronically delivered mind you) like myself with re-releasing characters from the 80's in the Universe line. I have to admit, I must have Powerglide!
I thought the one silverbolt picture I saw had the potential to be a combiner. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Might anyone else think it concievable that Onslaught and Silverbolt may be capable of combining with smaller limb pieces, but just in some way that we haven't seen yet? I mean G1 gestalts had the head peg assembly, the Energon ones had that octagonal ratchet join thing, perhaps there's just something new going on in R&D...

Yeah, repaints are much quicker and easier for them to produce than new molds, especially new molds that combine!
