Anyone else think this is a VERY BAD IDEA?

Don't get me wrong, I like the name, but I think this is going to lead to general confusion amongst parents buying toys and movie goers.

We are getting two silver sports cars with very similar names (Sideswipe and Sideways). Hell, some people might think that one of these two are Jazz reincarnated. Yeah, the average Joe-blow should be able to distinguish Evil Audi Sideways vs. Good Corvette Sideswipe, but I don't think kids will. Perhaps that's why Sideways is similar to Barricade? To help differentiate him from the Autobots.

I just think they could have picked a different color for either character and a different set of names that weren't so similar.

Well this semi confirms what was said about them leading up , possily, to Unicron. Sideways, the Fallen,..... TF3 Unicron eats Earth!!! We gonna die!!!!!!!

Seriously, it does make sense now that we know. On another note, if anyone wants this or some other TF2 stuff, hit me up. I can hook it up

I see the point. Can't really undo it though. The buyer-end fix, however, is either buy two Sideswipes and redeco one into G1-Sideswipe, or to hold out for Hasbro to do it the way they did with Ratchet (which I really don't see not happening at some point in the ROTF line). As long as Megatron doesn't rip him in half the way he did Jazz...

Can't help but wonder if they'll do a G1-deco reissue of Ironhide...

Looking forward to both Sideswipe and Sideways though. Just too good to pass on, IMO.

Dang. He did kinda look like Barricade in the trailer, lol. But I'm at least happy to know his name for sure! Now we just need to know what other decepticons are in the movie!

oh no...i sence Bay-scalation...Unicron is gonna be right at the end of the movie or post credits sequence...

Actually they did. The toy is a generic version of the R8.

There are no Audi logos and most of the cars recognizable features are simplified.

(and Audi, Volkswagen, Lamborghini, and Porsche are all part of the same company)

Actually I don't think that the mater is the against-the-war policy of VW Group as many may believe since the R8 and other Audi models were officialy used in the IronMan movie,which was an action movie too and although IronMan was the good guy,he was a weapon manufacturer.
IMO GM as the main sponsor of the TF movies wouldn't let the producers officialy use(and maybe promote a bit...)any car produced by another car industry.

And no, Unicron won't be a cloud, they don't blow up nicely. However, he'll be about the scale where his robot mode will fill up all of White Sands Missile Range when laying down, so he can do the "Transformers Stimulus package" - build a giant Unicron mock-up over the whole missile range, blow it up (filming said explosion from satellite), then having to have it cleaned up...

maybe on the back of the package it may tell that this is barricade or not i perfer the movie to show details if its barricade or not but i doubt they will do just that.

in the first issue of reign of starscream it shows barricade is live barley but who he fought is unkown & that was the end of that or maybe sideways is clone of barricade as cliffjumper clonelike to bumblebee

With the name so similar to Sideswipe this can't be random. There are just so many other TF names they could have used if they were just giving the decepticons there own car version. It's too confusing to be random. There either has to be some connection to the Fallen/Unicron and the original sideways - or Bay is making his own plot changes by having sideways and sideswipe have some connection.

barricade sideways WHATEVER! the fact that we are getting all of these guys to look forward to- that should be all that matters- wheater or not barricade got killed in frist movie-or is in hiding- we will soon find out-i think that there should be little changes about the figures all the time- (they should have done this or that to make them better) but in the end -we will for sure take what they give us-I think this both for the toys as well as the movie story line.all and all-i think they are donin a fine damn job with both- so call him Whatever you want.. i'll take him

Well, who knows, Barricade liked to lie right? But if it isn't him, oh well. I liked him, but whatcha gonna do?

Seriously though, I'm just worried that all this talk of Unicron will jinx the whole thing. Bay has spies, Hasbro has spies, and if they see all this chatter about Unicron they may get the wrong impression and think we actually wouldn't mind seeing him in the third installment. We could very well be condemning ourselves here. We already have Wheelie to deal with. They've shot us in the foot, let's give thanks for the Audi and just limp away before we get kicked in the crotch for good measure.

Wow, what an odd name for him, he's like the least capable of being Sideways out of like the whole ROTF line. weird.

Damn. Let's hope Barricade still makes a comeback in one form or another, preferably still with his old alt mode.

Lets see:

Sideways as a herald of Unicron.
Unicron as a big cloud.

Reminds me of another peice of cinematic history- Fantastic 4: Silver Surfer. Did anyone see the steaming pile of crap?

Hopefully this mess about Sideways/Unicron is untrue.

So Highbeam, I think I should point out to everyone that YOU came up with the best idea for a cop car with the suggestion of the Dodge Charger for Prowl in TF3. Well,I brought up the Charger on pg. 3 of the Sideswipe thread and you had the killer idea that it should be Prowl. Since then, I have been unable to picture the Charger as any other character. Prowl -vs- Barricade would be an awsome showdown and doing it in an Old West style, quick draw 1-shot-1-kill then walk away sequence would rock! That or Barricade with a hostage and Prowl tags the impossible shot between the eyes over the hostage's head.
However it's done, if they come out with a Charger as any other figure, it'll be black and white by the time I'm done thanks to that idea.

They way folks keep bringing up the big "U", I'm starting to wonder whether his hearlds may not be hidden amongst us in the fan community. I keep hoping that if we just ignore...the Chaos Bringer, maybe he'll go away and we won't have to worry about him encroaching on the Movie-verse. If you folks aren't careful we may wind up with Rodimus Prime and Galvatron in TF3 and I promise I'll be the first person to point fingers when the angry mob comes...

So this means Barricade might not be in the movie at all then...

I don't recall any sign of him in toys or filming or tralers or anything.

As for sideways, I hope he's not a traitor type character, there's no time to thoroghly develop a story like that, along with the Fallen, a pretender, Megatron's revial, and the turning of Jetfre all in 2 hrs. and 20 min.
