Is it safe to oil TF joints?

Postby Plastikov » Sat Dec 29, 2007 3:29 pm

I'm having a bit of an issue with the a few of the joints on one of my favorite TF figures, the plastic has a few small places where it looks like it has been stressed, because the pieces fit to tightly, and the ball joints for arms at the shoulders are getting a rough texture like from scraping together to much. :|

I need to know if it is safe to oil the joints of transformers, as i think that doing so might help, even if only a little. Can doing so harm the plastic, etc.? and if not, what kind of lubricant should be used? a synthetic/slicone type, like FP-10, perhaps? or otherwise?

EDIT: I'm not sure if FP-10 is a silicone type or not, after reading more about it, all i know is it worked well for anything else, but have no idea if it is safe for use on plastics.

EDIT2: It was not long ago that i got the figure that i am expiriencing this with, and as i do not really "play" wih transformers, it should not be playware, and i am also very careful with all of my TF's.

Oh, and was this the right forum for this? i thought it would be, but am not sure. :???:

Sorry, experts forum doesn't get checked often enough. I don't know about oil, but you can check the maintenance/repair thread in the toy forum.
