I don't post here that often; well, actually never.
Why? Because it seems to be a pointless process to me. Most folks have their opinion on things and that's that. When confronted with some fact or argument that really derails their own personal logic, they literally strive to find ways to defend their point of view when they should really be rethinking things.
So, when you come here, to argue, debate, and discuss, are you coming as a zealot of your own opinion? or as a philosopher looking to better his or her own world view?
What's the point?
Is there any point in posting here? Can your opinion actually be changed?

Alot of those guys you just have to tune out.
Still there are a handfull of rational and open minded people floating around, and those are the folks I'm here for.
Still, that adimant "if you don't agree with me your stupid and I hate you" attitude needs to go away.
Case in point, I had a thread running a while back asking what people thought happened to Cybertron after it was destroyed in HeadMaster.
There where some fresh ideas floating and it was all good.
But one guy just kept beating the Ultimate Guide bible, screaming we all knew nothing as we obviously never red it, and so on.
I can't speak for everyone, but I did read it, and didn't sit well with alot of things explained in it.
Anyhow, that one guy ruined the whole thread and it died. I hate when that happens.

Well, I like seeing what people think about and belive in, and how people can be on differnt sides of an argument or disscusion, and how both sides can sometimes use really convincing arguments supported with facts, not just opinions.
Its interesting, I guess I like seeing how other people view the world. I dont think many peoples opinons or belifes have been changed, but thats not the point is it?

No, it's hard to change someone's opinions. That's not really what I look for. I love a good debate. Also, I'm good at playing Devil's advocate.
I like people who can voice there opinions and back it up with something other than, "Because I said so!" That mentality is counter productive.
If someone has a different opinion, more power to them. Let's have a real conversation and learn from each other.
The truth is, no one opinion is right(no matter how loud one yells). So one must listen to everything said, regardless if one hates it, and take that and apply it to one's own opinion/idea. You'd be surprised how often a well organized thought process can accept new ideas and apply it toward there own idea.

I don't know I just want to see different opinions on stuff, but my threads get out of hand cos some extream religios guys and the exact oposit bash themselves in them, ore just misunderstand it.
Well I don't think I'll be opening anymore thread here, I lost faith in this forum.
Oh and changing ones mind.

I love this forum. It allows us to express our opinion in a place that can be avoided by those who are offended by others having opinions.
Yes, there is a point to posting here because unlike a lot of other forums out there, the mods here aren't so picky about what you are allowed to say. There are limits of course, but the mods do allow us a pretty decent amount of freedom to express opinion. And it isn't really about changing someone's opinions, it is about voicing your own opinion without revealing your name. Sometimes you really feel strongly about an issue, and have no one to talk to about it. This board is the perfect place to get it off your chest.
As for me, I just love a good debate. not much entertains me more than getting Democrats and Republicans or Christians and Atheists in the same room.

Well, the point, most of the time, is just to find out what is fact, and what is opinion. By asking each member to bring out evidence of his or her own, we could find out the actual fact about different topics, not just pointing out each person's opinions without direction.

i agree with chaos bringer.
however, many people may not have had the experience of a touchy topic being discussed calmly and openly at great length without flaring up.
