Hi All!
Just returned to the hobby! I was a casual collector of lose G1 TFs in the 90's. Collected about 100 bots. I sold the whole collection about 8 years ago to pay for school. Last summer i stumbled across a pic of MP-05 and was blown away. I'm strictly a G1 fan so the Masterpiece Series really got me excited. I finnally ordered MP-05 after the second wave hit and it was over. Since then Ive gotten everthing except MP-02 and Mp-04.
My question is, what can i get to supplement my MP collection that matches scale, quality, and G1 repute? ive seen some things in the gallery but im not sure what to look for.

Alternators or the Japanese counterpart Binaltechs fit right in.

Yup, Alternators and Binaltechs fit perfectly in scale and similiar design astestics. Start snagging them soon before they continue to go up in price.

Re: Lonely Masterpieces
You could also use statues. Check out the G1 insecticon sttues for starters. They're in the same scale.
Also, grab the Classics Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Hufer from Botcon and his blue twin, "Pipes." They fit in scale with the MPs when in bot mode, as does the Jizaitoys Wheelie.
I also think the Botcon Alpha Trion fits in quite well as well, and imo, is a must have for any G1 fan.

I'm a G1 fan too, but I stick to the TF Classics line mostly. I find some energon TFs make good G1 stand ins too, like Energon Shockblast and Energon Downshift as well as Energon Swoop. Classics are mostly what I buy and it seems that Hasbro is gonna reproduce ALL of G1 in them, at least I hope they do.

TFs for trade, let me know if you have any of the ones I want or if you're interested in the ones I have.

Looking for Energon Swords, Energon Axes and Energon Spears from the Energon Omnicon and Terrorcons, please PM me if you can help me.

Thanks a lot for the input guys. ive spent the last few days pouring over all the Binal Tech / Alternator info i could find. Ive decided to hunt down a selection of BT figs. I also plan on adding some Repro- labels to make them just the way i remember. Hold tight Prime, renforcements are on the way

The movie leader figures look great displayed with masterpieces IMO. Do yourself a favor and get leader Brawl and Prime when you can.

If only for the differences in quality I agree with Bonger. While Leaders PRimes and Brawls are very cool figures, I don't think the two lines compare at all. For reference, I have on my desk all three MP Seekers and Megatron, along with both Leaders PRimes and Brawls and the LEaders look tremendously out of place.

man i love the movie, i really do, but i cant agree that the figs match up to a G1 standard. I will state though dude, im a BIG G1 fan, i love all tf's, but anything G1 and im bidding on it or buying it, but get yourself a primus, and a unicron if you can. 2 of the best figures i have, and as i said, im mainly a g1 fanboy
