Hey guys been reading the forums for the past few weeks. Awesome website by the way, the galleries are great.
I'm thinking of picking up one of the Masterpiece Optimus Prime and can't decide which one to get. I can get the MP-01 for $100 after shipping or the MP-04 for $175 after shipping. My question to you guys is, whether the trailer is worth the extra $60+ for it. I know MP-01 comes w/ a cardboard trailer, how is that? Are there any other differences between the two? Any help would be appreciated.
MP-01 vs. MP-04 Which one to buy?

if you can afford it, go for the one with the trailer. There are some differences between them all though..
MP-01 Japanese release. Has long smokestacks & grey rifle. Has cardboard trailer—outside only.
20th Anniversary Optimus Prime—US release. Has shortened/neutered smokestacks and a black rifle. Also has painted on battle damage and grime. Has cardboard trailer—inside only. More of a playset, not a truck's trailer.
MP-03 Same as MP-01 but with real trailer exactly like G1. Doesn't have little drone bot Roller though. I don't know the color of the rifle though.
edit: looks like he has the grey rifle.
Hasbro did recently release another version last Christmas called 20th Anniv DVD OP. He is supposed to be "anime" correct colors. No battle damage, short smokestacks, a talking stand (says phrases) and a blue rifle. No trailer
included.
Hope this helps.

This is probably covered in the "anime" correct colors...but i think its worht noting that this version lacks the chrome on the smoke stacks, grill, and tanks.

Just go w/MP-04. I plan on getting one soon snce my 20th Prim's legs are giving out as it is.........plus I want the trailer.
I also heard that the communication panels are different, w/that being Megatron & Grimlock in place of Bumblebee & Starscream.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm leaning towards MP-01. I'll probably be displaying Prime mostly in robot mode so the trailer would be useless.
I also remember reading that the quality control of the MP-04 wasn't very good with paint chipping off and misalligned front cab windows.
