This is completely amazing.
At some point I have owned 1:1 scale replicas of both the Desert Eagle and the Robocop version of the Beretta M93R.
Whilst it does resemble the Robocp Beretta to some degree, I'd personally go for a Desert Eagle.
The Desert Eagle is a bigger and thicker gun in general, much closer to the proto you have shown us, whereas you'll find that the Beretta is much thinner, especially towards the front.
The M93R-AG loses many of the curves that other Berettas are known for too, which will very possible leave your MP Megs looking quite blocky and ugly.
If keeping Megatron's Anime look is important to you, the Eagle is most likely the better choice.
Also, that particular Beretta is 'the robocop gun', and much like the 9mm sword from Romeo & Juliet or Han Solo's blaster it's always going to be famous or known for being a particular character's gun which would be similar to building a Masterpiece Ratchet as Ecto-1, Hot Rod as the 1960's Batmobile or Starscream as a Viper from Galactica.
The Eagle on the other hand is famous just for being one of the most powerful hand guns around, particularly the .50 caliber version.
It's a terrifying hand gun capable of inflicting enormous damage with one shot (much like Megatron is supposed to do), and actually probably represents what Megatron is supposed to be about more than any other pistol in existence.
Whichever way you go, I'd strongly recommend picking up one of the cheap 1:1 scale bb firing replicas.

That's comming along great Mark. I love both modes and both still retain a G1 Flavor but with that "In your face" update for this generation who sooooo loves the idea of blowing things up.
All I can tell you brother is to go with your gut on this one, listen to advice but in the end go with what will work best for you with your own personal edge thrown in.
Keep me updated man. I love seeing how this is progressing.

starting to rally tak shape and it is looking good. I am however confused as to why choose a different gun. I mean if you can make a gun then can't you make the P-38 and wouldn't that help keep all the G1 flavor since his bot mode was origanilly created from it. or is your desire to change the gun more your artisticness taking over?, cause that would be cool. just trying to understand your thinking.

I think one of the reasons why a P-38 would be difficult to use is because the nose (whatver it's called) is so thin and rounded, even with the silencer on. So thin that you really can't incorporate it into the bot mode. It essentially becomes kibble (as it does in G1). This design by Anemis utilizes a different nose, one that can actually be used (in a major way as it becomes the chest). This allows the gun to still be in scale (with humans more or less) but still have the robot mode be the size of MP Prime. It's a really nice design and is looking great so far. It's still not the ultimate MP G1 Megatron because it's not a P-38 but probably as close as you'll get. It's really hard to incorporate mass-shifting and shape changing in real life.

bingo ...
the way i see it , it,s either a great megatron form and a somewhat different weapon or an exact g1 p-38 and a crapy megatron robot form....i,ve studied all of the options and this is what needs to be done ... try to remember the g1 toy... the gun was scaled (approximatly) 1:1 ..and megatron was the right size for g1 prime... now let,s take theses scale and put at the masterpiece series scale... now you dont really want a mp megatron to look like the g1 toy do you ? no you want it too look great as much as the anime type as possible ....so you need to EXTENSIVELY modify megatron.... and the result well no way in hell can it look like the p-38 in gun mode....problem number 2 when like i say you take the scale 1:1 and make it to the scale of mp series well the gun should be about 4 times the size of the 1:1 so unless you want a bazooka (wich i doubt) changing the weapon form is the only solution..... unless of course i,m totally mistaken....
opinions anyone ? could it be done in the p-38 format ?

I think it could be done, but will require the use of pieces overlapping each other and retracting in and out. For example, you can make the chest (as you have it now) slide over to cover the arms (or at least part of the arms). When it slides over to cover the arms in gun mode then it reveals the nose of the gun. Easier said than done of course because you have to build the sliding mechanism inside the chest and also would be difficult to place the head inside since the insides of the chest will either house the arms (in gun mode) or the gun nose (in robot mode) which leaves little room for anything else. You can probably just have the head be at the end of the gun like how it is in G1.

I'm pretty certain it can be done, but then the gun wouldn't be in 1:1 scale.
see i wouldn't mind a oversized p-38, I mean I don't need to run around with megatron holding uppretend banks anymore. I just like the p-38 for the memories of me doing that.

At a 1:1 scale, no, I don't think it could be done.anemis wrote:opinions anyone ? could it be done in the p-38 format ?
And if it could it'd most likely not be too stable or be made from so many individual transforming pieces that he'd be no fun to Transfom, easily broken and would probably looked like he'd been chooped up and glued back together.

that,s what i also thought about the scale... it would be WAY TOO BIG... i,m trying to build something unique here.... anyway i have new PICS !!! i,ve been putting about 4-5 hrs in just the headpiece and the system to get it into the chest (man this is not getting any easier)... at this point please remember the head is defenitly not finished but it gives tou a glimpse into the proportions ... hope you like it !! (note that i use a 20th anniv prime head to save time.... but it will change big time)

Awesome!!!
Really good job, man!
The face is too ugly, but the proportions are perfect.
Anyway, what about the cannon and the silencer??? I think you can do it retractible (like Star Wars Swods or something like that).

This looks very very cool Mark.
Don't worry about mimmicking an existing gun.
It's a Masterpiece, not an Alternator.
The Alts focus on alt-mode likeness, while the Masterpieces on cartoon robot likeness, while having a decent (if not too realistic) alt mode.

Indeed, but you're getting to it ! Looking great man, really. I'd have to say the head looks a little too big but that can be me.. or the angles.
All in all, indeed the best MP G1 megatron ive seen so far, retaining the full gunmode..awesome.

Heres my two cents on the altmode:
.44 Automag

Or The new Guncon:

As for what to do with the barrel in robot mode:
