Negative comments on MP Megatron

My only complaint is he's fragile, but that comes with the territory. If you're careful he shouldn't break. I broke the trigger on mine. If he does break, I recommend using something called JB Weld. It's a cold weld solution usually used for bonding metal together, but it works great on TF's too. It comes in two tubes you mix together in equal proportions and dries really hard. You can get it at most hardware stores.

Is there a way to lubricate the joints so they aren't so hard to work with?shockwaveuk wrote:The shoulders you have to pull down are really tough, so tough they feel like they may break, and being attached at only one point they may do in time. I don't like having to use excessive force on stuff I paid over £70 for.

Ok I finally got mine today, and here are my comments.
The "crotch" joits seem flimsy to me. When you pick him up the legs want to bow in towards each other. Just doesnt feel or look right. When hes standing you can "force" them out, but it seems like doing this over time will only make them more floopy.
No twist at the waist. Kinda sucks that there is no joint allowing him to twist about the wasit.
Cannon is too damn big. They really should have scaled it down a bit. And while they were at it maybe reduced the hieght by wich it sits on his arm. Looks rather clunky with it sitting up so high.
Upon transforming him from the gun back into robot mode one of the red vented "ribs" popped off. Maybe this is due to it being new and stiff, but they were not held in very securley. Makes the figure seem cheap when youre transforming it and suff pops out of socket. They should have went with a pin to secure these pieces instead of little plastic tabs.
For some reason when changing him into the gun the shoulder covers dont want to line up just right. The two top tabs that fit under the forearms dont want to lock into place.
Mace chain should have been shorter.

That's probably my only minor quibble with the figure - then again the chain looks great wrapped around Megatron's hand.
With regards to the shoulder covers, I had the same issue, I think that it's a case of massaging the lower arm to fit flush with the upper arm - then it should fit snugly.

A lot of fans have mentioned their disappointment of the missing stock and silencer. My question is why?
Sure, the alt mode looks great with them, but would fans want the pieces to assemble into the bazooka and stand alone gun implancement from the Gen 1 figure? Personally I can't see why as the parts only surfaced in the cartoon alt mode and weren't part of Megatron's robot mode.

If I had two Masterpiece Megatrons then the extra bits would be welcome.Who would keep their only MP Megs in alt mode?

I heard its a good figure, except you just have to be very very careful with him.
Its the problem with a semi rushed figure. I'll get him maybe in a few years, when there's been time to iron out the bugs and such

My point exactly.
Sonmeone broke their MP Megs in half? Jeez! Steady pressure in the direction of the joint, that's all you need. Bloody hell - breaking £70 worth of TF - that's gonna hurt!

You are assuming that they will still be in production! As far as I know there will be 2nd production run soon and then thats it!

Diecast is good, but where would you want it? The entire leg section maybe? Anywhere else and the figure might end up top-heavy

Yeah, really. If I got a Transformer toy, I wouldn't mind paying a little more if he/she/it was mostly diecast. It might make them a little top heavy, but I would rather have that then a mostly plastic figure that may or may not have a long shelf life due to its fragility.
I can't imagine saying to Mr.Megatron,"You may be called the Slagmaker and you may have no known weaknesses, but the little toy of you is absolutely fragile."

What about the barrel and trigger. I noticed a few people saying that they broke the trigger so that would probably help. And a die-cast barrel would help him not falling forward so much in robot mode. And those parts in die-cast chrome would look hot in gun mode.

Im not that bothered about the die cast. It would have been nice but as mentioned stability would have been compromised.
Plus dont forget that it would have to be painted which would result in chips. The only way to get the same hard edged look with metal would be to machine it from a solid blocks and that would have pushed the cost way up as it takes a lot more work, and produces waste metal.
I think they did a great job of making him look like metal with that brushed look.

I think that fans are transfixed with Diecast since the Binaltech line and MP Prime both used diecast. The switch of materials has left a bad taste in some fans mouths. I suppose mainly due to the cost of the later mostly plastic releases

I'm very happy with my Megatron. That's all that matters to me.

Agreed. I would love it if the black part on his shins were die-cast.

There'll always be more MP megatrons in the world. I just feel the figure is somehwat rushed, thats why there's so many problems with him
