New here and asking for solutions with boxes

Hello everyone,

Newbie here, and I been collecting TF's from Armada to Cybertron along with some G1's. And now I have a dilemma; with all the TF's that I have, I've also kept most the boxes, and I am hesitating to throw away the boxes. The thing is, the boxes aren't as good as G1 and BW/BM where the specs is behind it, but I like to keep something for future references in case I forget the names. I know there are references and databases on -line. But is there any sites that keep photos of MIB TF's?

Sorry if this sounds too complicated! :???:

TFU generally keeps pics of Transformers boxed and loose.

Actually Seibertron is a great place to see boxed bots too, Ryan generally photographs them in box and then out, especially with the newer lines.

hope this helps.

You can Ebay them, some folk who are looking to preserve their stuff may buy them.

Don't expect alot though!

I fold up the ones I can, put my smaller ones in my larger ones and have a small crawl space that I store them in. Once a year or so I rummage through them and whatever ones strike me as "Bleh"(ie cybertron crumplezone) I toss.

Back in the day foam inserts made keeping these boxes easy, and I love the japanesse blister packs, cause you could always put your stuff back. But modern cardboard inserts and wire ties, make keeping opened boxes more of a chore than anything.

Also, WELCOME

Well, BW boxes were easy to fold down, but with the cybertron boxes, the irregular shape makes hard to fold down flat. Yeah, the latest method of packing TF's inside the boxes are more of a chore, especially with all those WIRES!!!

It seems odd to me that people are willing to buy boxes only without TF's; is there a strong demand for that? I am willing to give those away if someone is willing to pay for shipping.

By the way do most of you keep the boxes, or just toss it right away? I have kept my BW cardbox (files are right behind along with trans. instruction) and up to the Movie. But I am making a decision to clean up my room.

I keep alot of boxes. when Bois started vanishing from carded figs I began tossing those. Still, when it comes to boxes, even newer ones, there are always people lookig for them.

Newer themed boxes won't get you much at all, but some of the older ones can get you a decent penny even without the incerts.

You know this is a collectors trade, and for a collector to get a loose figure in a lot auction then score it's box increases it's value to some.

Not to me unless it's vintage, but to some...

If you're only gonna toss them, I recomend listing them first with a low starting price. You'd be suprized witha some of the OCD completest out there :-?

Weapon: Sword
Every once and awhile I buy a G1 figure with the box. Usually I turn around and sell the box and I often make back about 1/2 to 1/3 of what I spent on the figure.

I don't collect the boxes. I have no room or desire to do so.

As far as new boxes go, you might have to hang on to the think for 10 to 20 years before it is worth something. That's a lot of time for little investment. So whatever reason you have for saving boxes, hopefully it is not just based on future value.

That's why I'm selective about the newer boxes I keep

I have this same problem. I hate to throw them out but they take up so much space. Its getting to the point where I'm going to have to make a decision.

A while back someone (Fender Bender?) posted pics of their collection and they had cut the back panel off of all the boxes and only saved that. I think that could work for you if you're concerned with keeping a reference as you mentioned and it would obviously take up almost no space.

Voyager class or higher i keep. Saranwrap & all. Bubblewrapped then "tetris" pack them in thick cardboard boxes, right into storage. If u throw any package away, u may regret it. Just my 2cents on it.

Seibertron still rocks.

And that's what I am afraid of, regretting it in the future. But I am also glad to know that some are scanning or photographing the boxes, which does make it easier on me.

And let's talk about my situation as well, I still live with my folks, and I am working with my bro on trying to get a new home for ourselves, and I am pretty sure I don't want many packages to take care of when the day comes.

But thanks for the response, I'll see if I get things done after New Year's.

Another thing that I started doing was tossing the loose boxes of the figs I have doubles on, ie, the Classic Voyagers.

Before i saranwrap it, i use quality cloth(use for wiping eyeglasses) and a blow of my minty breath to wipe off any visible oily fingerprints. Giving each da shine they deserve. Heck, if i'm gonna cherish it, may as well go the extra mile before i store them. I've been relocating the past 10 years. It's become a practice and embarassed to say, a ritual. How's dat for a max out nerd, eh?
