New Official Macross/Robotech Thread (25th Anni Valks added)
I bought my GPB-01 armor set from Archonia.com though their valkyrie choice is very limited now and the VF-1 selection is depleted except for the 1/60 VF-1J Super Max type.

I'm not sure how interested you guys are in military aviation, but those pics of the YF-21 made me think of a real plane, the YF-23 Blackwidow:

Hope you enjoy. Such a shame these beauties lost to the F-22 Raptor and will never see active duty. The fact one of them crashed during the competition prolly didn't help.

I posted this before completing all 13pgs of this thread. After seeing the upclose shots on pg 4 or 5, I'm not too sure the 1/48's are worth the money when the Toynami's can be had for so much cheaper. I just want a super detailed Valkyrie that matches MP-03's size in both modes. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Maybe some side by side pics with MP-03, 160 & 1/48s?

The Toynami 1/55th "masterpeice" scale VF-1's are a lot cheaper then the yamato stuff (thoug not always they can go qquite high in price since their are out of production), but for a good reason. The 1/55th VF-1 is ok for its price tag, but other then that it is not very detailed, and has those hideous metal bars near the cockpit for the legs to swing out. If you are looking for a super detailed VF-1 then the yamato 1/48th is the way to go. The Yamato 1/60th is pretty good, but it doesnt have "perfect transformation", meaning it's legs need to be removed as it goes between fighter gerwalk and batroid modes.
Even though I posted this in your other thread, I will psot the comparison shots here as well. This is a comparison between MP-03 Starscream and Yamato 1/48th VF-1's. But they really only match each other in fighter mode, if you wanted a valk to match MP-03 Starscream in bot mode youd be looking at the Yamato 1/60th or Toynami 1/55th "Masterpeice figures".

In the old thread before the board whipe (almsot 50 pages long of Macross stuff) I had posted several iamges of the various Macross stuff and how they related to real life aircraft. A lot of the designs for macross are based off of current stuff. The VF-1 is ofcourse based off the F-14, there is even a macross design based off the SR-71 and A-6 Intruder.

you mean Nora`s right?yeah, we`ll see hers and some CF type deal too from the SV-51...seems to me almost every type has one or more repaint anyways, the only exception being the Koenig Monster although that can still happen...Air Commander Starscream wrote:I am defiently getting a SV-51....but I want them to do the chics... That's pretty cool!! I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first.
Though, that's what, $200 in LEGO kits to find all the right parts? [/shot at cost of LEGO]
