Why? Years from now, folks are gonna wonder exactly when a mold was made from anything between Generations to TF: Prime and perhaps indefinitely after that. I just don't understand. :GHOST:

my tf prime deluxe soundwave has a date on it.....one arm says made in china the other says 2011

I um wasn't playing with it at this second......and my wife isn't rolling her eyes at me for playing with a toy..........denial is awesome!!!!!!!!

Same with my Soundwave. I aint ashamed to play and pose my TFs. I pity the fool who is!

They are there; you just have to know where to look...

I can't remember which ones but I searched and searched on some of the and could not find it. I think it was early Classics molds.

Out of curiosity I went and had a look at all the most recent tfs I have just to be sure. Their locations are as follows:

FE Bumblebee = inner shin
FE Arcee = inside the shoulder fin
FE Starscream = inside chest cavity
PRID Ratchet = inside of the large shin panels
PRID Wheeljack + Soundwave = inner forearm
PRID Megatron = inside chest pannel

Hope that gives you some clues as to where to look on other figures, if you really care about that kinda thing.

Besides the fact that the years ARE still printed on the molds, we also have resources like TFwiki to get that sort of information.

We're in the electronic age right now, I see that it's a bit archaic especially if it's going to be on the packaging already.

Not to metion the date on the figure is usually the year the mold was produced, not the year the figure was released, if I understand correctly. I've seen brand new figures with last year's date on them.

Not quite. It is indeed the year in which the mold was copyrighted, however when permanent changes are made, more often than not a new date is added.

That would make sense. New version of mold, new date.

Also explains why G1 reissues often have 2 dates on them.
