You saw it during war time. The resolution was so low I didn't like looking at it. The pic still looks kinda bad now (damn sig limits).shajaki wrote:Carebear! I dunno what thread I saw it in, but your Vortex with the Titanic caption made me lawl
Actually I find that the images linked here look kinda bad as well. Not sure if it's seibertron resizing to fit the borders or just photobucket being a nusance.
Speaking of which, photobucket is popup ad banner hell without ad block on. Does anyone else have a better suggestion? I'm aware of tumblr and flicker and such. I'm just looking for a place to drop photos for free without all the ad hassle.

Good! I'm not just seeing things, AND my photo skills aren't THAT bad! I've always wondered if it was the resizing done by the site. My pics look fine in a full size preview on Photobucket, but always get grainy when I post them.carytheone wrote:Actually I find that the images linked here look kinda bad as well. I don't have any issues with Bucket, but I pay for an account.Speaking of which, photobucket is popup ad banner hell without ad block on.
A lot of folks use Imgur. I think maybe even Jaki does?Does anyone else have a better suggestion?

Re: Cary's TF Collection and Photos
It always bums me out how nice the pics look on photobucket (especially when zoomed) and then they look so fuzzy here. I've checked several times to make sure I didn't upload a shakey hand pic.
I'm taking some site crashingly high res images too. My camera and phone are in a battle over who fills my HDD up first.
Maybe I should just pay PB then? I turned off my ad block for something else and went to PB with it off - crazy slow and another window opened up. I felt like it was 1998 all over again. The one exception was didn't have to do a panicked virus scan from safe mode
I may check into imagur, thanks, I forgot about them.

I use Seibertron. And then force people to click the link for the image and copy the HTML to re-use the image in their post.

I stopped uploading images here for two reasons.
1. The image quality was poor, which I understand because of...
2. I didn't want to put a burden on the servers for my silly stuff.

New Shelf, New Display and Rearrange Time - Milestone Reached
We've had a shelf we picked up from Ikea for years. It was up at the old house, then it was up at my wife's old office, then it was in storage and it's spent the last year hanging out in the attic of our new house.
I've been wanting to rearrange a few displays in my collection for some time now, but really didn't want to move things twice. I was standing in my room pondering where/how I could move things around when it hit me. Why not put that crazy long shelf up over my window.

Once the shelf was up the real inspiration begun. I decided to move my Prime figures up there. I'm not really a completist, but I consider my Prime guy basically complete (sure I could slot some figures in or out, but that's not the point here) and I don't really mess with them anymore.
So I started put the figures up there in a way much different than ever before. Not crammed into a cubby, not stacked to get as much in a spot as possible, but as a finished thing to displayed and viewed. And that's when it dawned on me. I hit a milestone this weekend. I now have a "complete" collection set in a static display. It was an odd yet comforting feeling.
TL;DR - where's the frakkin' pics already?
Soon, but I was in a hurry and had terrible lighting. It was either snap some pics before walking out the door or wait until next weekend. So please excuse the crappiness of these pictures.

I'm very happy with the way the Decepticons turned out, but not so much the Autobots. I feel Predaking really ties the group together and if you look close enough you will see I got real matchy matchy. I may go back and add a second layer to stack figures up behind others.
Of course that's not the end of my tale. Moving the Prime figs, left me with an open shelf. The perfect spot to start really getting into RID.
We also did a little kitchen/pantry organization this weekend and ended up with an extra spice rack (Spicy Shelf to be exact). The spicy shelf wasn't expensive enough to justify driving back to bed bath and beyond for, so it went in my room. Kind of an odd design, but I felt I could make it work.
Real quick before I get to the silliness that ended up being my new RID shelf. I present my Lost Light sardine can cubby.

I was real happy with the way that looked. I tried to repeat the results, and then this happened.

I fully expect Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney to come dancing their way down those steps at any second.
So yeah, that needs some work.
How about some close ups?

So I like the space ship look to the spicy shelves, I just need to implement them better.

Cary-all, the shelf looks great as well as the bots on it.
Love the RID French discoteque display! Except in Paris, no one dances. They just stand around snootily smoking cigarettes, pretending not to like anything. Maybe you could make some little cigs for your guys to hold as they stand and judge.

Mini-con Mania!
So I may just have a mini-con problem. I picked up that special edition 4 pack this week and finally found time to take some pics and leave some thoughts.
You may want to make some tea or something while this page loads (I did crop a bunch down, aren't I considerate?). Also please excuse the crappy hotel lighting. I wanted to put my thoughts down while I'm playing with these guys pretty heavily.
First story time!
wouldn't be a cary post with out a story board

HA! Bet you didn't expect a surprise ending did ya? Or maybe you did because I'm getting predictable
Don't worry folks, Swerve's OK!

And now the real reason I'm making this post, to talk about my obsession for minicons (RID minicons to be exact).
So these guys are from the "Special Edition" 4 pack. They all have either a "scorch" or "blizzard" theme. I've noticed a lot of blizzard themes in the RID redecos. I like this fire and ice thing they got going on here. Add wood and rub signs and we got ourselves some modern Battle Beast

The pack has 3 new bots and one repaint. I thought it was 2 and 2, but after some research I found that Swelter is a new character. I thought he was just a repaint of Divebomb (I couldn't remember the name off the top of my head). Swelter is a retool of Divebomb though, more on that later. Let's get to the pics shall we?

Scorch Strike Beastbox
The original is easily one of my favorites. I like the gorilla bot action and the colors. This caramelly flavored one is sweet. The colors are really nice and I think the brown paint has some metal fleck (the old eyes don't see up close all that well anymore) and some really nice blue on those pipe things. I only took one pic though. I also found (by mistake) that I could pop his arms one more click forward. It reveals his face more and I feel it looks/stands nicer. I'll try the same on the OG one when I get home. Note: No armor with this guy.

Scorch Strike Undertone
This guy has a neat knight thing going on. As you can see the box art shows this aesthetic off better. I did find that I needed to pop his legs one click down farther than he shipped so he would stand correctly. This actually helps the transformation with the armor attached. The armor btw is very cool. This guy has some little wavy arms too. More on that later.

Check it out. I found what Hasbro did with Scrapper's elbows

Armor up

Blizzard Strike Swelter
A retool of Divebomb. Notable differences is a gnarly grin and a tail. Not much new here other than some nice metallic purple paint. Note: No armor for this guy either.

Sweet tail
now check that snarl!

Blizzard Strike Backtrack
This guy is the show stopper and the real reason I picked this set up. He has some nice articulation for a minicon. In fact, I would say he could be a nice legion figure, much like Fixit. This guy is my favorite of the pack and of all the minicons. He is weaponed up nice and even has a little jet pack. With his armor and weapons on he reminds me of the attack droid from star wars. But what he really reminds me of is some of the rock lords from the gobots line (Nugget and Slimestone to be exact). I like this guy a lot and plan on getting a second one with Overlord. Enough of my jibber jabber, let's see some pics.

I had to get swerve to help me get a clean shot of his face.

Articulation? Yeah, I gots it!

Weapon up son, this is war!

Aye, totes me jetpack

Roll up and shoot out

Oh yeah, there's still that frog running around here somewhere.

Yee Haw cowbot, you only need to stay on for 8 seconds

Sorry for such a long ride. Swerve sure enjoyed it. I hoped you hung in there to the end. Until next post. Same bot time! Same bot channel!

MAN! I found Spring load yesterday and the first thing I thought when I pulled him off the peg was, "Who could ride this silly frog?". Ninja'd by the fun maker himself.

I was totally gonna take pictures too. He is a pretty fun and silly little amphibioid, no?
I have seen the minicons several times know, and stood and pondered on them. I think I have to wait a bit as I have MP Ironhide coming in at the end of the month. Hopefully they will stick around on the shelves for a bit. I know it's sixies/halvesies, and the math adds up, but for some reason when I see that $16.99 price tag I cringe a little.
But now that you have loaded the pipe for me it would be rude not to hit it, eh?

Love the spread! Glad your nights out on the road are filled with bot fun, even though you're far from your Ark.
Thanks for sharing.

Totally fun and silly. I grabbed the last one on the peg with no hesitation. I feel he can "stand" next to the warrior figs with no problems. I wanna do a little customizing to make him look a little more cartoon accurate. Black eyebrows and a nice licky tongue.MAN! I found Spring load yesterday and the first thing I thought when I pulled him off the peg was, "Who could ride this silly frog?". Ninja'd by the fun maker himself.![]()

Let me enable help; that's $4.25 a piece. Not bad for these little dope as fizzlesnit figures.when I see that $16.99 price tag I cringe a little.
