Perceptor
What happened to Perceptor in the series? Who was that autobot tank that looked like a red ninja in the G1?

Nothing happened to end Perceptor and he continued to appear in G1 after TF:TM even had a Season 3 episode that focused mostly on him, "The Face of the Nijika".
The tank Autobot is Warpath. He may appear to be a ninja with the shape of his head and his face, but he is not a ninja and would always speak with onomatopoeia while in combat. Kaboom, kapow, and so forth.
BTW, 3000th post!

what I want to know about Perceptor is why he didn't fire at Megatron in TFTM, when he clearly had him in his sights. Doesn't his scope fire lasers in the cartoon?
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Only in robot mode is his scope a laser cannon. When he is in alt. mode it just lets him see the Decepticons coming so he can tell the Autobots who are better warriors than himself, which is pretty much all of the rest of them.

They were still closing in, he had them magnified. Plus no I don;t think he ever fired his microscope in the show. I know he never used his cannon mode.

I always found it funny, that unlike soundwave, Perceptor rarely used mass shifting. So he was this GIANT microscope.
I always picture a high school science class, perceptor hiding in the corner..12 foot tall bloody microscope.

Yeah, but he could mass convert if he needed to, just like Soundwave didn'ty have to mass convert if he didn't want to, which did happen on a number of occasions.

Well, personally, I never cared for perceptor. In fact, he was number two on my "Hopelessly Useless TF's" List, right after Daniel.
But, I never remember him using a cannon, only that rifle/pistol, er, whatever...

It kinda seemed like Perceptor took over Wheeljack's job as the series progressed, didn't it? I mean, why? Who thinks a microscope was cool? Wheeljack is a mad scientist with a neat accent and a cool car.

The fact that Wheeljack was dead might have something to do with it.

I think microscopes are cool am I the only one? *crickets chirp in background* I don't think he was useless, there just happened to be quite a few autobots lumped into the collective medic/scientist/inventor category

No, Wheeljack was still alive. But during the second season we started seeing a lot more of Perceptor instead. Also....there is speculation that Wheeljack survived or was rebuilt.

Oh, and I don't think Perceptor is useless. I think he's kinda cute

Wheeljack always seemed as the mad scientist creating inventions that no other Autobot would conceive not even Perceptor, Hoist, or Grapple. Perceptor seemed more like an "upkeeper" making repairs to and improving on accepted machinery.
That is my view on it.

Ah yes, who is the coolest scientist/builder of things the Decepticons steal and use to their own advantage?
A) Perceptor
B) Wheeljack
C) Grapple
I say Grapple, because he and the Constructicons built that solar tower thing in one day. Plus he gets really pissed off when his creations are destroyed in battle.

First off, the solar collector is Hoist's creation not Grapple's. Secondly, Wheeljack's Immobilizer was a much better prize.

If someone has already posted this. sorry for repeating this, but Perceptor did use his microscope as a cannon. In Season 2 episode "Minibots" he used it to blast the Heart of Cybertron when Brawn through it in the air. and the other that I can remember is in "Carnage In C-Minor" when he blasted the Constructicons apart.

no, i'm pretty sure it was grapples in origin, hoist was the one to help create it!

Yep, my bad.
I still think that the Decepticons should have tried to reprogram Wheeljack to create weapons for them.

I think it's funny how Wheeljack masterminded the Dinobots and they have zero affinity for him. And that one time he wanted to show them off to Prime and they nearly destroyed the base. Poor Wheeljack.
Something told me that Perceptor didn't particularly care what side he was on. His mind was really on science, not on peace.
