Question about eBay

Postby DvDqNoC » Mon Aug 27, 2007 4:31 pm

My question is this:

Lets say I bid 100.00 on something.

Then someone bides 10, doesnt beat me.

Someone bids 20, doesnt beat me.

Someone bids 30, doesnt beat me.

Then the auction ends. Does the auction end for 30.00? or Do I pay the 100.00 I originally bidded? Thanks

You would pay $31.

Then what about with an auction sniper? Would it snipe over the original 100.00 that I bidded? Or will it only snipe over the currently high bid (30.00)?

You'll never know what their going to bid as they bid in the last 5 secs... Depends on what they are willing to pay for it.. Best advice put in the highest your willing to pay or bid in the final seconds like they do...

Best advice is never to bid on something until the final hours. All you're doing by bidding with 5 days left on the auction is raising the price you'll have to pay. Unless you're bidding on something I'm selling in which case you should bid early and often.

Your best bet is to just become a sniper yourself. I use esnipe.com, it only costs me .25 per auction win, and since it puts my bid in in the last 2 seconds, it doesn't give anyone time to rethink how much they are willing to pay.

Plus, I'm sure there's open source software out there that probably lets you snipe for free, I've just never looked into it.

There was one time I was bidding on Classics Starcream on ebay. I meant to type in 12.00, but accidentally messed up on my typing and entered 1200.00!!! That was in the last 10 seconds of the auction. I didn't notice it until after I clicked the button to send in the bid. Fortunately, I won the auction for $11.50. Whew...

You wouldnt had too much trouble regardless, entering an incorrect bid is a qualification for a bid retraction.
